Let Moss go as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. While I'm not unrealistic enough to think it'll happen, I firmly believe we need to clean house in terms of defensive coaches (except for Washington, if we could keep him) and bring in a serious D coordinator.

I would let Moss go and get a HC job and thank him for his work here, but I'm not going to make him the DC because someone else might hire him. Our defensive backs were the only group who played tough all year long, so if any coach stays it's Washington, IMO.

Winston Moss might become a head coach. I doubt it, but here is a reference to it, along with the subject at hand.

My first thought: why?

Exactly what has made Moss even seem like good head coaching material? The position he coaches wasn't all that great this year, and more importantly he's been a part of one really good team, which was last year.

Perhaps the Rams are just trying to fulfill the Rooney Rule requirement?

I have an open mind going into this off season, but I admittedly would be shocked to see something major. Then again my definition of major is probably different. A new DC would be a start, but that's not groundbreaking news or anything. I think some new defensive lineman is what the team needs. That's the major news I want.

Our LBs were terrible this year. Why everyone is ga-ga over Moss is beyond me.

Were they?
Or was it because they were overwhelmed because the DL wasn't doing their job?

One thing a lot of people don't realize about Linebacking is if the DL does their job, then the LBs can do theirs. If the DL doesn't, the LBs are overworked and completely worn down by the 4th Q.

I'm under the impression that the problems with the LBs this year had more to do with the DL than the LBs themselves. I could be wrong, but that's my 2 cents.

That's exactly my point and what I agree with. It's no coincidence that every LB had a down year. There's no way all of them regressed. It had to be an issue with d-line play, IMO.

Look at last year for the prime example. Both Hawk and Barnett had great years with a deep d-line rotation and pass rush. It makes the most sense to me.

Note to self.. in the offseason project.. make sure that you include video of the poor linebacking play with regards to the notion that it is all up front.

I watched the line play and backers with utmost focus for the last couple weeks of the season.. I can assure you that the line play wasn't the reason for the poor performance of the backers.. I stake my rep upon that assessment.

Was Hawk hurt.. maybe.. but then he shouldn't have been on the field.. coaching decisions.. strike one.

No excuses for Poppinga, Barnett, and Chillar in the run game though.. or Bishop in the passing game.

Well, to be completely honest, the last couple of weeks, Barnett was out and Hawk was out of position.

I just can't see how a whole crew can decline so much in one year. It doesn't make sense to me. It's not like all of them are old or anything.

Zero2Cool (1h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (1h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (1h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (1h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (1h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (1h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (1h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (1h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (1h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
