I love that site and I know that Sanders will be canned. I had a feeling even last year when they upgraded Moss to oversee.

I never thought Sanders was a legit D-coordinator anyways.

Lombardi's such a tease! Tell me what's going to happen, man! Could he be any more vague or cryptic?!?!?!

nah. the secret to a good tease is that it has to be juicy enough to make me nuts.

More info from Matt Bowen on that same site:

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2008/12/safety-blitz-17/

Im sure the Packers fans didnt take too much pride in beating the Lions or finishing this season at 6-10, but dont worry: If your GM has any guts, he will blow up that roster, starting with the D Coordinator, who, Ive heard, isnt on the same page with the players anyway. Might want to grab some free agents as well. Terrible seasons for both of these franchises. I expected it is Detroit, but in Green Bay? That was bad.

I was just going to post that. Sounds like a strong indictment against Sanders. All signs point to his removal.

I have an open mind going into this off season, but I admittedly would be shocked to see something major. Then again my definition of major is probably different. A new DC would be a start, but that's not groundbreaking news or anything. I think some new defensive lineman is what the team needs. That's the major news I want.

Andrew Brandt answers tons of questions but cant get into to much detail

But did answer me once, saying that he, Ted and others all had input on what free agents to go after or what to offer them..And form what I recall made it sort of known that he was basicly last line of negations for the players..

Reading Brandt's articles and posts on NFP, it's interesting to see how much of a "conservative" philosophy he has.

Brandt really believes it is important to dive into FA carefully, and has shown that he thinks draft picks are an extremely valuable asset (particularly first round picks, and to a lesser extend day 1 picks).

It's odd then to have had Ted not choose to renew Brandt's contract, supposedly because of creative differences between the two.

The interesting thing is that Bowen is a former player, with minimal experience in pro personnel and scouting in the NFL. I'm shocked he says that Ted needs to blow up the roster, considering so vets like Al and Charles have repeatedly said this roster is very talented, just a little bit away from being truly competitive. Then you consider that a big percentage of the roster was part of the 14 win team a year ago, and the call for blowing up the roster seems really 'out there'.

But as for his point on Sanders, it's more and more evident that things don't favour him returning. Yesterday Charles declined to comment on whether he wanted Sanders back, but another thing of note is that Winston Moss was apparently co calling the defence along with Sanders at least in some games this year (Jax. game for example).

What's more, back in the off-season workouts MM said it was time for this D to become more aggressive, referring to a "natural progression" taking place where by the D scheme grows since it is entering its fourth year.

Oddly enough, you heard MM say that quite a bit, but never Sanders. Not once.

I'm going to deviate a little and wonder if someone like CBs coach Lionel Washington should be considered for role of DC. He's developed CBs like McKenzie, Al Harris, Tramon Williams.

On the packers.com website, the role of Washington is described as follows, "developing and executing the Packers' defensive scheme and third-down packages"... seems like he has the makings of being a DC...

Every article has talked about execution on the defense. With execution comes motivation to run the scheme and apparently the players are not buying into the scheme and showed a lack of motivation to finish games because that was our major problem. This guy showed he can not get it done with the talent we have here. It isn't like Ted Thompson is going to break the bank for studs either. So why is Sanders still here????

I'm hoping they want to wait till after the holidays.
Maybe they have their eye on a guy who's team is in the playoffs, and want to see if they can get him before they hand Sanders his pink slip.
