The Green Bay Packers roster will take shape by the end of the month. Their 53-man cut day is Aug. 31, just two days after the team’s final preseason game against the Chiefs. That means in roughly the next three weeks the Packers’ roster will be reduced from 89 players to 53, leaving 36 players currently on the roster out of work.


Currently, I see four veteran players that could be surprise roster cuts this year.

John Kuhn
D.J.-Williams
Jarrett Bush
Mike Neal

Kuhn had some of the best blocking in the drills (if not the best) - although maybe he can be replaced by mulligan and lacy for the short yardage play ... I dont take it that he is most likely out thou.

Willams ya he isn't showing much so far from I can tell ... too small IMO for a TE anyways. Bush bleh ... Neal not sure I was rooting for him last year but maybe this year he'll be injury free.

Bush you can see, as he is climbing up there in age as well, and has proven to offer little in the secondary on a consistent basis. He has stayed on this team by being a STs star. He may be the toughest call to make here.

(Now it may not really be true but that is what they say publicly.) It is huge when Bush gets down field and can down the punt at the 3, 5 or 10 yard line. It is equally valuable when he takes on two blockers and frees up someone else to get down field and make the play. We love it when Raji or Pick take on two blockers and then allow someone else to make the play the same needs to0 be given to the CB everyone loves to hate because he is not that great of a cb.

IF they have someone younger who can do what Bush does he could be gone. Keep in mind it takes more than blinding speed to fight your way down field while getting mugged by two guys. Someone younger and faster may not have the savvy that Bush has shown.

If all Bush does is excel in ST then he will stay on the team.
