Woodson had an option.. playing in Tampa as a safety.. he wanted to play CB.. hence the out of options remark.

With his injury history and questions arose would he lose a step and play corner in the NFL at a high level.. at least for the salary he was asking for.

Our press system helped Woodson as much as anything.. but he also proved he still had it in him.

My biggest surprise and compliment I can give this staff is two fold..

1) the he is happy here in Green Bay.
2) That he is content enough to move this season and play out of position.. showing leadership and selflessness.

Ted could have passed on Charles.. he didn't.. and both have been rewarded because of it.. hopefully some FA see this story and Woody helps sell Green Bay to prospective free agents like White did back in the day..

This was just a great strike. It's a shame he doesn't use this talent of his more often to get some more players like this.

I'd like to know the reason though, why he wouldn't want to play in Green Bay. Weather? Management? Players?

I'm glad he changed his mind though, now loving it over there in Wisonsin. Maybe it's a good example for other players.

Thompson still had to go get him. The fact is most thought Woodson was done and Thompson did take a chance. He deserves credit for that.

It's a shame he hasn't taken more chances in free agency more often.

B. The quality of the signing wasn't because Thompson fought off 31 other teams to get him. Most teams thought Woodson was washed up and Thompson saw an opportunity to grab a good player. That is why he gets credit for the move.

Boy....now the Ted Thompson bashers are out bitching about the circumstances under which Woodson BECAME a Packer, not the fact that he is. Honestly, you folks need to get a little perspective.

Oh, by the way....numerous teams were after Woodson, as a safety, which so many "experts" deemed his only move left to extend his career. Ted Thompson offered him the promise of remaining at corner, and the possibility to be active in returns to lure him here. Great job, Ted Thompson!!!

Sorry if these little facts are inconvenient to your rabid, frothing rant.

I agree with you whole heartedly on that and hopefully he will lure more big impact free agents to Green Bay with his attitude.

The fact remains I saw and heard him say that he came to Green Bay because he was out of options.

He sidn't say Ted Thompson came out and won him over or that he is thankful Ted Thompson picked him off the scrap heap.

Ted was already under fire for his inability to draw an impactful free agent.
If he had passed on Woodson who was the only Big name free agent left on the market he really would have been ripped bigtiime.

Granted Ted Thompson did sign him but not because he agressively pursued him, he came to Green Bay because he was out of options (HIS WORDS).

Sorry to spoil the Ted Thompson lovefeat.

Yeah, I know....and if you are reading this yooper, sorry if I came off a bit pissy.

The collective weight of thoughtless "AR sucks", "TT sucks", "MM sucks" posts have just got me a little on edge. I am happy to respectfully disagree with someone if they engage their brains before they post....as you do....but so many as of late do not.

I for one think you have certainly earned the right here not only to your perspective, but to have it listened to. I for one totally disagree with this particular one, but by no means want to give the impression that you are to be dismissed out of hand. I think Raider Pride just summed up my feeling on the matter quite well.

The whole interview gave me food for thought.
