I'm just glad we got him. We are lucky to have him. Dude is a true professional.

I agree with you whole heartedly on that and hopefully he will lure more big impact free agents to Green Bay with his attitude.

The fact remains I saw and heard him say that he came to Green Bay because he was out of options.

He sidn't say Ted Thompson came out and won him over or that he is thankful Ted Thompson picked him off the scrap heap.

Ted was already under fire for his inability to draw an impactful free agent.
If he had passed on Woodson who was the only Big name free agent left on the market he really would have been ripped bigtiime.

Granted Ted Thompson did sign him but not because he agressively pursued him, he came to Green Bay because he was out of options (HIS WORDS).

Sorry to spoil the Ted Thompson lovefeat.

I don't quite follow. WAS he a big name free agent at the time? As was mentioned previously, one other team had interest and it was for the safety position. Hell, Joe Johnson got far more hype as a FA pickup than Woodson ever did early on.

I wouldn't consider him that big if nobody but GB wanted him.

Jeez. It's not that nobody wanted him. They wanted him to be open to playing safety. He didn't want to.

I don't consider him big because of the amount of his salary, the number of teams that were competing for him, etc. I consider his signing big because of what he's done on the field.

Based on the salary, fought over, etc Joe Johnson would have been considered a 'big' free agent, but I have other words I would use for him...

This could also be viewed as being accurate with him playing Safety the last couple games or so.

Yes, the veteran cornerback came to the Packers of his own free will, signing as a free agent before the 2006 season. But as Woodson divulged on Wednesday, as the Packers prepared to play the New York Giants in the NFC Championship on Sunday, that was only because he didn't have another choice.

Everything Woodson had heard from others around the league gave him a negative opinion of playing - and living - in the NFL's smallest market.

"The talk is always this is no place for a black man, and that's just how it was," Woodson said. "And you get all those reports from people who've played here and those were the thoughts going through my mind when Green Bay kept calling."

Instead, Woodson wanted to go to Jacksonville or Tampa Bay.

But those teams apparently weren't interested in a cornerback who was near age 30 and had missed the last 10 games of the previous season because of a broken leg, so Woodson's options were limited: Green Bay or bust.

"Every time I talked to my agent, when I'm asking about all these other teams, he's saying 'Well, they haven't said anything but Green Bay called again, so what do you want to do?"' Woodson said. "And it was almost like this is where I had to play. You know, either come to Green Bay or just sit at home and just continue to wait."

If Woodson didn't want to come to GB and only ended up in Gb because he felt that he had on other options available to him, doesn't that sort of imply that other free agents may well not want to come to GB either?
People keep complaining that Ted Thompson doesn't do enuf to sign free agents. What if he has tried but no one wants to come to GB unless they over pay?

It's definitely an issue. The silver lining - if there is one - is that you're more likely to end up with 100% football people, vs. prima donnas or club hoppers, etc.

dfosterf (14h) : Hasn"t Bosa missed more games than he has played in the last 3 years?
Mucky Tundra (19h) : He hasn't been too bad when healthy but I don't feel like I ever heard much about when he is
Zero2Cool (20h) : Felt like he was more interested in his body, than football. He flashed more than I expected
Zero2Cool (20h) : When he was coming out, I thought he'd be flash in pan.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Joey seems so forgettable compared to his brother for some reason
Zero2Cool (21h) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
