I know its a different sport but look back at the Jordon Bulls, sure he had Pippen but if you know at all that Pippen wasn't much without MJ. The Bulls won there Championships with alot of cast away players, but they raised there play when they were with MJ on the court. I'm just bringing this up to show that the intangibles do make a difference.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Good sweet lord, this is so old.

I don't know if this is an instance of some fans coming out of the woodwork to grind the old axe just a little more on the offseason fiasco, or it's actually the Packers fanbase just falling apart and eating itself, or what, but it's embarrasing.

I will go ahead and allow that in two-to-three games Favre's leadership and experience might have made a difference. So we might be closer to making the playoffs instead of mathmatically eliminated at this point.

But: dude doesn't play defense, and if there's one area where this team has clearly fallen apart, that's it.

It's frustrating, and it's disappointing. Nobody likes to lose. But seriously? You're going to pin this on Rodgers? AND, since you can't point to poor performance or statistics you're going to stretch out and say it's 'intangibles'? You people are hilarious.

I used to think folks like Packnic and Trom were overly harsh, but now I agree with them completely; reading this forum lately is a whole lot like listening to the Minnesota fans (you know, the ones you all deride as bandwagoneers) when the Vikings have a down season. "Fire *insert name of guy you were lauding just 6 months ago*!" "OMG, Aaron's a bust and doesn't have what it takes!" "Someone catch me when I jump!"

I'm going to call it right now, and if I'm wrong I assure you I'll own it: This team will be markedly better next year. I see a situation much like Carolina's last season; key injuries and crappy luck have broken this team down, but most if not all of the pieces are in place. If Thompson does his job (and yeah, I said "if" -- he's got a lot to prove this offseason) we could easily be a real force next season. And I think we will be, even without Brett Favre and his intangibles.

And with that, I'll leave this place to DH, Jacko, and the rest of the guys who've been so ardently waiting to stroll on in and laugh at the "crappy" Packers team they claim to root for.

More than that, MassPackFan, Favre threw a game-losing interception in every single one of the Packers 8 losses in 2006. Unless I am sorely mistaken, I do not believe the the same can be said for Rodgers this year.

I was sitting in the "second room" at the vets office last night, waiting to pick up Max. (He is still mad at me for having to spend the weekend there).

On one of the end tables was (I think) a "Field and Stream". Everyone knows what to do with a "Field and Stream". You go to the back page, and this is what I did. The author instantly had my close attention, because he was writing about white perch fishing on the Potomac river. (Homie thing, and something I have done in the environs of which he spoke)

Of course being in the second waiting room I was afforded the opportunity to read the whole article, and as anyone that has read the back page of this publication will attest, it has little to do with the fishing and a lot to do with life in general.

Something rather funny (amazing how the humor assists in the comprehension) struck me in that article. The author was describing his previous 4 attempts at white perch fishing on these stomping grounds, and his failures in those attempts, coupled with his complete success on this, his fifth "trip" there.

He said, "...this is the thing I have learned about luck." "It is absolutely indistinguishable from failure right up to the exact moment that you have it."

I liked that statement. I'm contemplating if he was even talking about luck.

A team with a Defense like ours has no chance of winning the superbowl and a very rare chance of making the playoffs. It doesn't matter who your quarterback is. Is that a hard thing to admit?

the packers are 5-9 because as a TEAM they couldnt get it done

Here is another amazing thing

It's coincidental. And due to changes and circumstances unique to both teams (e.g. one team broke the bank to compile a damn good OL and acquire a DT who ruins a run game on his own account, and the other team picked up a pretty good OLB and drafted a bunch of meh-to-pretty good players - seriously, I'm not giving Ted a pass on this season, I just don't think the Favre situation is the problem), but mostly coincidental.

Did you see the Dolphins and Falcons competing for playoff spots in week 16? Did anyone?

Coincidental.

The fact of the matter is, in a league with this much parity, everything is an anomaly, and therefore nothing is. Games and entire seasons can hinge on the smallest or most random of things.

Zero2Cool (22m) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (14h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (14h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
