Between Cedric Benson and James Starks, who would you rather be the primary running back for the Packers?

I was mildly let down with Benson against the 49ers, then again, no one runs on them anyway. I recall James Starks having a decent day against them in I think 2010.

I think we'll know more about Benson after the Bears game. If he puts out the same 2 yards per carry, ... I don't want to think about it. And the Bears are usually good against the run too!

Edit, this thread was a fail, lol. What's the problem with the Packers rushing attack? The players? The coach? The scheme? The running back? The lack of dedication to run the ball? Something else?

Doesn't matter if our OL doesn't know how to run block. I am really pissed about that. They knew what they were facing, and they did not show up to the fight.

I'll add, Benson should be fine. Starks should be fine if he can ever make his way onto the field. All I know is, we have three more waiting in the wings to not gain any yds because of our poor run blocking, but, at least we are stocked there...

Still, you'd think the Packers would break off at least ONE decent run in a game. And they didn't. NO blocking up front, and no attempt at an outside run. All up the middle for 2 yards.

Benson has a chance to make his old team look bad.....or look great.
Of course with no blocking, no one can make any big gains.

Waaaaay too early to make that determination. Benson needs at least a couple, probably more like 4 starts before we can really get a decent picture of who he is, and I'm not sure this last game counted. The niners are brutal against the run. I didn't see Benson do anything special, but I didn't really see any cuts he could have made or holes he could have run through. We just got destroyed up front.

Benson in between the tackles and Starks outside them.

Not much can be done with contact coming at or behind the line of scrimmage.

The 49ers didn't stop the run last season by accident.

Ya know what.. I say piss on it. I might walk in this morning and fire Campen and Fonteno and hire a veteran OLine coach this week. The line is in complete disarray, we aren't overly effective in either pass or run block.. go out and hire a veteran line coach to help shore this up as well.

Seriously, this group has been inconsistent for the word go with Campen as the position coach. Why not make a loud statement that enough is enough with the happy horse pucky.

BTW.. this isn't a panic type statement, more so a overdue move that should have been made at the very latest this past offseason.

People complained about Sherman holding onto Rossley too long.. this in my opinion is the same type of deal. Highly regarded or not.. past time to move the hell on.

At this point I would just say Benson because he can stay on the field. Our offensive line is quite possibly, behind the Browns, the worst run blocking offensive line in the league. Our best chance is to the right behind Bulaga and Sitton. Saturday is just too old to be able to push the nose tackles around and while TJ Lang might be a good run blocker, Newhouse isn't.

I don't know if any of you caught a few plays, but I felt like there were opportunities for Benson to cut back weak side and instead he put his head down and ran into traffic. Anyone?

I saw that too. It seems he didn't try to bounce off and at least attempt to go outside.
But it's also try that if you get NO blocking, you won't gain any yards.
I don't know if you can blame the coach. He can't go out and make the blocks FOR them.

If they need additional coaching to know how to run block, there is a good chance they shouldn't be on the field. Even the linemen that are better at one or the other (pass or run block) should be alright.

dfosterf (2h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (2h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (3h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (3h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (3h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (3h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (3h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (3h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (3h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (3h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (3h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (4h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (4h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (5h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (5h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (6h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (21h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move

Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
