cedric is probably a little rusty, but then again the niners run defense is one of the best, so it really didnt matter who we put in there !!

To be fair, Cobb did look decent on those inside screens.

I don't know why, but this team just canNOT run regular outside screens to save it's life. Or won't. It would be of especial help against a strong pass rush like the 9ers'.

I just don't get why we didn't see Green at least get a carry or two. CedBen was going nowhere.

It doesn't matter a whole lot if the backs are getting the ball and running into a wall. Get Barry Sanders in his prime and maybe with his ability to reverse fields he could average 3 yards per carry behind this O-Line's run blocking.

Not play the 49ers.

They had a historically strong run defense last year. Nobody runs on them. You can't read a lot into the rushing attack based on this game. The matchup was just terrible for the Packers in that regard. We'll learn more against Chicago and Seattle, but New Orleans is the real test. You can't run on them and you can't run on anybody.

Still, you'd think the Packers would break off at least ONE decent run in a game. And they didn't. NO blocking up front, and no attempt at an outside run. All up the middle for 2 yards.

Benson has a chance to make his old team look bad.....or look great.
Of course with no blocking, no one can make any big gains.

There are more ways to run a football than straight up the middle. How about, a sweep? How about getting a reverse to Cobb? How about giving Kuhn a few carries? And where did our RB screens go?

Edit, this thread was a fail, lol. What's the problem with the Packers rushing attack? The players? The coach? The scheme? The running back? The lack of dedication to run the ball? Something else?

Completely different rules from those days.

Let's not forget that we had Hall of Fame OL in those days as well. The only possible Hall of Famer on our OL right now is Saturday, and he's at the end of his career (a stop gap until we draft and/or develop another C).

Back to the original topic, we should have mixed it up. Starks was inactive (if I'm not mistaken, 🇲🇲 said he wasn't 100% back from his injury in the preseason). So that leaves us Kuhn, Green, and the occasional Cobb trick play. Why didn't they get any carries? And why didn't we try at least one reverse?

Benson up the middle for 2 yards isn't gonna win you any games (unless those are all goal line runs, which they weren't).
