Some of you seem to think it's the end of the world if Finley doesn't come back.

Let's set the record straight. We won the SB without him.

With Finley out of the line-up, 🇦🇷 spreads the ball around more. He doesn't focus so much on Finley. Our O last year wasn't as good points wise, but it stayed on the field. It was still an elite O. It just wasn't the #1 O.

The focus on the off season needs to be on D, not O. I was wrong this year to think that the O could have carried this team all the way. I see it now.

D needs to be the #1 priority. If Finley wants too much money, let him walk. We'll need to spend that $$$ on D.

Everybody here knows that Ted builds around the draft. We're a good team. We're picking in the bottom 10. Those guys don't make a lot of money, especially in this post-lockout era where there are no more $50 mil guarantees.

Ted isn't going to draft with the expectation of his players making an immediate impact. So if we're going to invest on anything, it's the strength of this team.

I could be wrong and Ted might sign Mario Williams, but I'm not going to rely on that. And I could be wrong. After all, Bill Belichick built around the draft too... and then all of a sudden there was that one year where he signed Jason Taylor, Wes Welker, traded for Randy Moss, and all sorts of aggressive stuff; it's not out of the question.

If we get rid of Finley and spend money on places worth spending... fine. But if we get rid of Finley only to go about the same shit every year drafting players who won't be starters for another 3 years, then I'd be frustrated.

When you are building up, gotta always draft best player available. But in the first few rounds THIS year we need to draft for need..Defense then OL and then after that we can focus on best player available, we have had success with lower round draft picks too.

Eh, drafting for need will more often than not end up in busts. A GM has to largely draft BPA unless of course BPA and need are almost one and the same. If a team has too many elite players, some type of trade can likely be pulled off for a proven player, or just improve the team by allowing the better players to take over for average or serviceable players. If one is attempting to specifically fill a need, it should likely be done via free agency.

One way to "draft for need" I suppose is by trading up and getting a guy that absolutely fills the hole and is incredibly talented. That's risky to start trading away picks, but it could be effective. Perhaps, as you stated, we will see something like that again this year. Or ever better, some type of magic trade for Flynn/Finley/James Jones. It should be an interesting season. I expect to be in serious contention for the super bowl next season.
