Clay Matthews III trains at Proactive 11 times a week - twice a day Monday through Friday and once on Saturday.

I'm a big Zombo fan, but I'm very impressed with Elmores desire and commitment. I'm thinking that in a year or two this pick will pay off.
The Packers have no rush to develop this kid to start immediately.
Nice draft for Ted in my opinion.

That was my reaction too.

I have to admit, I'm excited about this pick. I'm not as high on Zombo as a lot of you are. I like Walden but he still seems raw to me, and more of a speed guy. Jones is completely unpredictable coming back from injury. I don't think Elmore will be ready to go in '11 but '12 would be fine with me.

I like the Elmore pick too. He was very productive, and just seems like a decent bet to be able to play in the NFL. I expect Zombo to be the guy, though.

As far as playing as a rookie, Matthews, Brad Jones, and Zombo did it. So did Hawk, Barnett, Chillar (w/ Rams)... even Poppinga and Francois started one game in their rookie years. Just about everyone except Bishop and Walden. I wouldn't bet against Elmore getting a start or two this year.

Dude's cone drill was second fastest after only Reed, so I'm not writing him off. Straight line speed may be a little slow, but they said that about Dez Bishop too.

"nerdmann" wrote:

I agree with you there. For me the cone drill says much about how active he can be at the line and get his body where it needs to go in a hurry. One thing I haven't looked at yet is how he uses his hands when he is in combat. I hope CM3 gets him doing that MMA training to get the hands active.

That's just it, he doesn't have to be fed to the wolves right away and is already gaining all this experience. I was a heavy supporter of Zombo/Walden (still) but if this kid can learn from Big Clay and gain experience watching CM3 play then this will be a steal for sure.

4.78 40 time....speed can be worked on. The kid is athletic and hopefully will be a freak.

Man two year's ago we were up the creek with no OLB's and now we have too many. Does anybody have Doc Brown's phone number, cause I need the Deloreon to go back in time to make some wagers with all the numbnuts' in here that thought Uncle Ted was a dumbass.

As I'm sure almost all of you know, Doc Brown lived in his garage in 1985, the only remainder of his mansion that burned down on August 2, 1962, according to an HVT clipping in Universal Studios Florida. According to another article in the HVT, specifically in the May 1994/Issue #11, Doc Brown's garage/house address was: 1646 Riverside Drive, Hill Valley, California 95420. His phone number was (916) 555-4385.

You mean, now we have too many average players at a certain position. I reckon that that's a pretty achievable goal at pretty much any position.

Not that I think Ted is a dumbass. I was rocking the Ted Thompson signature for quite a while. It's just that the OLB problem isn't solved and most likely won't look that good again this year.

To be fair.. it isn't like a ton of the drafted talent at OLB has produced results on the field... past Clay that is. Consistent results.

We didn't actually draft anyone before round 6 at OLB apart from Clay. Round 6 and 7 are generally for depth and to secure the players you don't want to fight for in UDFA. Very rarely do you find a remarkable talent there. That's why players like Tramon are such feel good stories.

We're trying to fill a hole opposite of Clay by putting the issue on a backburner. Solid strategy.
