I think there was a law passed years ago by Clinton? that said by the year 2020 (or 2015?) that every manufactured vehicle has to have X amount of miles per gallon.

we are living in an excessive world run by excessive people who want it all whether they earn it or not.
greed greed greed.
i'm always amazed when i hear about how horrible our economy is but drive by the hundreds of restaurants there are here in peoria & they aren't just a little busy but they are PACKED with a waiting line out the doors.

nobody can find a job because they want a job they 'deserve' - not one that is simply available.
when my husband was laid off like thousands of others, he figured out a way & made it happen. he's managing a small car dealership & we're doing just fine financially.
living off your credit cards is not an option for us because we choose not to. i'd be a nervous wreck if i did that.
we've cut back where we needed to so we can still have a yearly vacation. no fancy trips or anything - just a week in a borrowed motorhome with the kids.
we saved enough money last year & put in a pool for the kids. we had more fun in that thing & are looking forward to many more years of enjoyment from it.
if people would quit trying to keep up with the joneses & actually figure out what brings them joy instead of listening to what the media tells us we want, there would be a whole lot more happy people in the world.

Throughout American history, the ideals of equality, liberty and democracy have been in constant conflict and friction with the realities of material greed and power.

I say I've earned the option to drive a damn Lamborghini Diablo SV! Unfortunately, the economics of it have decided otherwise. Then I'd have another gripe against gas mileage seeing as those cars get single digit gas mileage, lol.

Many good points by 4packgirl and wade. We have redefined what it means to 'need' something. Urban sprawl is a choice that distances us miles from our work place, day care, churches, schools, and grocery stores. We see the consequences in our banking account, traffic jams we get stuck in, and scheduling nightmares, many of which being self-imposed.

I hate seeing gas prices sky rocket and execs make asinine salaries, but as Wade and others pointed out, it's the summation of each of our choices. The CEOs of the unicycle, hydrogen inflated blimps, and the chia pet aren't getting 200,000k raises and holding us by the balls because we've found a way to live w/o those products and services

Zero, we need to get our gasoline more in line with the rest of the world and continue to import oil so we can keep shooting Arabs and using the incredible offensive defense aresenal we keep overspending on. We build planes that we don't ever plan on using.

What we should do is drill our own oil here on our continent and in the meantime, our boys in Washington should pass some fricken green technology bills mandating that in 30 years everything is converted over.

This will never happen because there is too much power and money in the oil business. They own the politicians and everthing else.

The oil companies have been screaming to drill and Obama & Environmentalists etc. won't let them.

We'll never be independent from oil, because the oil boys control everything; but we should be independent from foreign oil, because we have centuries worth right here.

That's what bugs me the most....we have our OWN oil we could get, but the environMENTALists won't let us.
I guess they would rather have us pay $4.00 or more per gallon, then to get our own oil that's right under American land.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

Mucky Tundra (24-Jan) : Rude!

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
