Good replies by everyone, but Wade wears a wool suit, not polyester.

Speaking of excessive....

I just bought my first pure cashmere sportcoat. List price $620.

This one: Now if only I was as cool as the coat.

Of course I only paid $100.

:)

Are you still pissed at me? LOL

We'll never be independent from oil, because the oil boys control everything; but we should be independent from foreign oil, because we have centuries worth right here.

Bush was supposed to be the stupid one. :p

One of the first things I noticed when I came to the UK was how small the cars were ...

Now this isnt to say there arnt vehicles that guzzle alot of gas here; ya they have their fare share of SUVs and vans and sports cars.

My point is I bet their average MPG is much less then what american cars MPG is ...
I know in the states people used to say or still do that the bigger the vehicle the safer it is ... ya sure but then itll cost you a butt load to fuel the thing ...

If there was enough motivation for americans to drive smaller more efficient cars then they would. Cant seem to count on the good nature of people to get it done ...
Perhaps the best way to do this without causing excess hardship to poorer people - is to charge large fees for vehicles that are too big and have big engines ...

anyways its not my job to figure that out its the politicians (good luck with that eh ...) ... my point is its americas fault for the large cost of fuel and something needs to be done about it.

Instead of pointing the finger at this that or the other; turn the finger around and see what you can do about it.

Actually, the safest vehicles are still the "family sedan." But of course, who needs stats when you can have emotion? Thus, the soccer mom and their obsession with SUVs and overconsumption.

Agreed about turning the finger around. I do carpool and walk whenever I can. And Saturns get pretty good gas mileage and statistically, are pretty safe vehicles. But then again, they may be safe vehicles because their drivers tend to be "boring" drivers, like accountants.

Damn, you just got insults flying at me left and right huh? I owned a '96 Saturn for about 4 years. Topped it out at 285k and sold it for 400. 🙂

My car now is Kia Forte, 4 door. SO I think I get some points from you in that regard ... maybe.

Insult? I drive a Saturn. So does Wade.

I'm more likely to insult someone driving a gas guzzler. Saturns have been proven safe in crash tests, plus they're very economical, both at the pump and for the price. I bought my first one at $12.5k new and paid it off in 3 years. My second one I'm still driving.

The money I saved I put in my retirement accounts or invested it elsewhere. People who drive Saturns are often fiscally responsible.

The only problem with your Saturn I can see, Kevin, is its color. It looks surprisingly close to a certain football-team-wannabe color.

Worst part about Saturn? They're not made anymore because of the fuckups at GM.

I didn't mind the color that much. I think GM/Saturn screwed up by trying to make Saturn a SUV, Minivan, Sports car, etc ... I think they should have stuck with what was working for them.
