From what I read, Rodgers said nothing about the team photo. He was just talking about the players, not the photo.

Yeah, he does not mention the photo issue either. But I was responding to RP, who said Aaron was asked about the photo... the reply he gave that began this issue today was not the result of being asked about the photo-gate, so to speak.

Barnett needs to shut the fuck up. Wonder what his trade value will be in the off-season. Like him as a player, but this is bullshit.

This is all shit that should have gone down behind closed doors. Twitter screwed it up.

Again, I do not think it is fair to imply Barnett is the sole contributor to the problem here.

Aaron being so candid, especially given the media coverage surrounding the Packers this week, is equally to blame. Surely Aaron could have told Barnett and Finley behind closed doors that he did not like them staying away from the team.

I agree with Tom Pelliserro, who said that McCarthy needs to tell his players ASAP to STFU.

Yeah, I would have prefered the entire episode behind closed doors, but I have no problems with Aaron Rodgers speaking out as one of the team's leaders. The issue was already being played out in the press--AR didn't start it, Barnett et al did.

And I have no problems with the message Aaron Rodgers sent: you're fussing about not being considered a member of the team/excluded from the team SB photo, but you are no where around participating in the team's season. Your claim to be a team member would have more merit if you were on the sidelines supporting the team/encouraging your teammates, instead of having disappeared back home.

Frankly, I think that the issue needed to be addressed to the whole team to clear up any distractions. Not being in the locker room/practices, I don't know if McCarthy addressed it or not. But in any case, Aaron Rodgers felt it important enough to go there when he was aware of the controversy that it was likely to stir up. And from how I've seen him handle other, more difficult situations over the last few years, I trust his judgement on how best to handle it.

According to Jason Wilde on twitter, the question Jessie Garcia asked was:

"Aaron, do you feel for the IR guys, and Im not talking about the photo thing, do you feel bad that they arent able to take part in this?"

She specifically mentions she is not talking about the photo issue. This is the question to which Rodgers gave his reply....

Don't see where he is asked about the photo issue.....

No need to apologize RP, no need at all. I'm pretty sure if I was not procrastinating to the nth degree, I would not have known the details of the transcript.

I agree with everything you wrote, except this bit I quoted above.

I, too, have no problem with the message Aaron is sending. It's just that this is Superbowl-hype week. He has so many more reporters present, everything he says is going to be in more stories, analyzed more closely, and relayed through more avenues.

In other words, the chances for something getting over-blown and becoming a distraction are that much higher. Frankly, the last thing this team needs is distractions that are pointless. I'm sure Barnett get the message, as did Finley.

But surely Aaron could have done it differently so that the message was delivered not through papers and blogs, thus creating the possibility of it being picked up as a story and becoming a needless distraction.

I just think he could've raised this issue - and perhaps expressed the broader opinion of others in the locker room - in a more direct matter that stopped the issue from playing out through the media and broader social media.

I used to like him as a player; he was great - but his annoying off the field attitude with the internet is lame.

For the record, Nick Barnett and the IR players should all be in the team photo. I completely agree that they are apart of the Green Bay Packers. However, a few of them have done a terrible job of handling the situation. Obviously, I am talking about Barnett.

AADP, I have to disagree that Aaron Rodgers is equally to blame.

First, someone asked a question and he clearly chose his words carefully in answering. If you read what he said, he was in essence saying that the 53 guys in the locker room have formed a unique bond throughout this experience.

Apparently, that hurt Barnett's feelings, so he tweets several messages about it.

It is worth noting that Rodgers along with Charles Woodson went to Mike McCarthy and got Barnett in the team photo.

I'm sorry, but Barnett has to separate his feelings from reality. Instead, of complaining on twitter, he should be motivated. Seeing his teammates succeed as they have should serve as inspiration for him to achieve this as well.

I understand Rodgers brought the issue back by answering the reporter's question, but context is everything. The context of Rodgers' statement wasn't about bringing guys like Barnett or Jermichael Finley down. It was more about what the 53 guys on the active roster have experienced.

Obviously, Barnett did not see it that way, which is disappointing. Instead of being motivated about his future, he is complaining about the present. Im sure he means well, but he is being reckless, which says as much about twitter as anything.
