Aaron Rodgers says he ironed things out with Nick Barnett
Green Bay Packers team photogate is the annoying story that wont die. It multiplies.
On Sunday, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and coach Mike McCarthy tried to put the issue behind them after Rodgers helped re-ignite the controversy by criticizing his teammates Saturday.
Rodgers reached out to Barnett Saturday using an old technological device called a telephone. Its believed you can Tweet from a telephone, but Rodgers actually called Barnett to speak to him directly.
I initiated the conversation, Rodgers told ESPNs Sal Paolantonio. We ironed things out. I didnt think there needed to be an apology on either side.
I reminded him I was the one who went to the third floor and lobbied to have everyone in the team photo. I realize people are going to want to talk about this at the Super Bowl, but everything is cool.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy seemed exasperated that hes still talking about the issue. He didnt understand why Rodgers was critical of players working out away from the team yesterday.
I dont share that viewpoint. Once again, its a non-issue. Frankly, were really ready to get to Dallas. Everybody is, McCarthy said.
The Packers head coach didnt think it was necessary to get involved any further.
No. Were all grown men, McCarthy said. Sometimes little things turn into big things, and thats one of the messages that you share throughout the season, and thats a clear case of it.
