What would Fox News have said if Obama weren't present, or MSNBC if Bush didn't show up at the Va Tech memorial?

Why should we care what FoxNews or MSNBC say about anything?

Seriously.

They're part of the problem. Not part of the solution.

I agree about the Olbermanns and Hannitys being detrimental to politics but my point is to consider the alternative. Wouldn't Bush or Obama's absence at the two events show a lack of compassion and lead to a raucous public outcry?

Little too much of a pep rally considering it was a memorial to those lost. Similar, but not as extreme as, the Paul Wellstone moment years back after his plane was detrimentally affected by gravity.

Didn't hear / see it as I was working. Don't really feel the urge to listen to anything that guy has to say, good for the country or not.

But I will say I would most certainly expect the guy to be at the service(s) and give a speech. This wasn't just a school shooting.. This was a shooting where some of his OWN were murdered by a freakin' animal. (NOTE: When I say some of his own, I mean that one of the victims was a politican.. I would have expected Bush to give a emotional speech if this happened on his term. That comment had nothing to do with how both the President and one of the victims just happened to be apart of the same political party)

So, I guess my point is.. I think it's a VERY good thing that he showed up and gave a good / great speech. He can't give a eulogy at every tragedy, but if one involved a public official you can't blame the guy for doing as such. Sorry Wade, I have to disagree. Not that how you feel bothered me any.. just saying.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!
i seriously am this close to coming unglued with this whole deal.

a tragedy took place & all we can do is talk about whether or not the president should/shouldn't have been there to give a damn speech??

i don't give a rats ass if he did it or not because that's not the damn point.
several people were killed & injured by some dumbass.
i have relatives who live in tucson & they said their community is completely devastated by this. they even met the judge that was killed & commented about what a wonderful guy he was.
the same words were said for giffords.

we expect our politicians to stay out of the fray & yet we as citizens choose not to do it ourselves.

it'd just be damn nice if we could focus on what truly matters just once.

It's crazy how it appears so difficult for us as a nation to be positive (rationally) about our president or hell our government.

My comments were not meant to be negative.. it was a tack on from my first post.. where I stated I have no problem with him being there and addressing the nation/mourners.

You know.. rebuttal to criticism that he was there.. guess I should have edit the first post so this single comment wasn't read as a negative and the full context of my views were correctly read.

don't take my comments on political threads to heart. I read a bit here and there and I'm sure I'm way out of context.
