I think it's kind of bull that Obama moved his speech to the NFL opener.

I'm hoping NBC does the right thing and shows the game in it's fullness and greatness. It'll probably be the highest rating game ever.

I think if NBC doesn't show the game, Obama can basically say good bye to Wisconsin and Louisiana votes. As for NFL Network, they MIGHT simulcast the game. That'd be a good option, or maybe they'll have to have it on a 10 minute delay or something.

They actually have to invite him, though I don't see why they can't just do it on Tuesday.

NBC will show the game. Football is bigger than Obama. Hell, football is bigger than our country. 🤣

For reasons wholly apart from football, I hope NBC doesn't show the speech, but the game. And I hope that if they do, that the American people finally show a little brains and go to NBC in droves, because football IS more important than anything that a pinhead "national politician/candidate" is going to say in such a speech. I guarantee that if you take away the content-less soundbite quotations from BO's speech (and from whatever bo Republican "response" follows it), you'll find zero value in it.

But I don't think it's going to happen:
1. I don't think NBC will have the balls to say, "sorry, BO, you're just not that important anymore."
and even if they did,
2. I don't think enough Americans have the balls, or the collective savvy, to say it by tuning in to the game intentionally to drive the ratings up and make the point. So even if NBC had the guts they don't have, the ratings wouldn't show a major move. Because, by itself, football isn't that important to pull just because Obama has pushed them away. People won't go from BO to the NFL. They'll go elsewhere, spend the time screwing their mistresses or playing Nintendo instead.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

According to Mike Florio, Obama speech apparently won’t conflict with Saints-Packers kickoff.

I know there are more important things in the world than Sports, but I hope NBC realizes that several other broadcasts will be showing the speech, they don't need to do it too.

Let's not rob Packers fans of the pregame trophy celebration and the good stuff that happens pregame. NBC, do your hype thing, hype up the game, run the damn speech after the post game show.

In this world.. there is no way the President will outdrawn the NFL, even its pregame.. they will rebroadcast the speech post game.

I will be shocked if that is not the case.

I'm with ya there. I think with the other networks showing Obama yapping, it has potential of being a very high rating NFL Season Opener.

I'm thinking it's just too damn foolish to cut into any NFL coverage after the lockout. I do think the NFL contributes to America in a positive way.
