I have an interesting question. Does the visceral response many people have toward this story stem primarily from the fact that he tainted the sauce with semen specifically? Would people's reactions be equally strong had he tainted the sauce with any other bodily fluid? Blood, saliva, sweat, mucus, urine? What if he had been a woman and had tainted the sauce with vaginal secretions? Would that be equally repugnant?

Sweet said that Lindhorst worked at the restaurant for about a year until he was fired in April for bringing brownies to work that he had baked with marijuana.

Lindhorst served the brownies to two co-workers and that two of the aggravated battery charges stem from that incident, Sweet said.

Waterloo police launched an investigation into the incidents on May 12 after three witnesses came forward with information, Sweet said. Lindhorst was arrested May 17.

And how is that implying that he was rehired?

Where did I say/imply he was re-hired???

I was pointing out what since69 was confused about

Dude, wait... What? He was fired in April for bringing in pot brownies, and the SAME RESTAURANT rehired him?

Hope that clears it up...

Considering you didn't quote his post, I assumed you were aiming it at my question, not his.

As a former food service employee, I have this advice for all of you: When going through fast food restaurants, never, and I mean never, special order anything. Scrape those fricken onions and pickles off yourself.

Why? I'm asking people what they think, because I'm curious. Are all bodily fluids equally disgusting to people, or is it the connection to genital organs people really have a problem with?

I have a historical reason for asking this question (i.e., a story) that I'll discuss if people express opinions on the matter.

NSD.. answer is.. all options would all conjure the urge to hop the counter and lay a beat down on the knucklehead.

If you can't deal with the job or the fact someone wants to order it special order... get out of the kitchen, like the job is that damn hard.

You realize we are talking about the lowest end jobs there are filled with people that don't give a damn and basically despise the people for whom they are waiting on. It has nothing to do with sloth.

And Non, if I caught someone busting a nut into my soup, I wouldn't be repulsed, I would just beat his ass. And the same would go for spit or shit. Now if I found out a woman left some vaginal juices in my soup, I would need to meet her, because a girl that would masterbate over a pot of knoephla just intrigues me.

I would be grossed out no matter what bodily fluid. And like Dakota and 93z mentioned, proceed to lay a beat-down.

I never witnessed anyone deliberately taint the food they were handling in my 3.5 years as a cook, but I have seen accidents (pizza off the floor) get served.

Bottom line is.. If you can't handle that type of grossness, then don't eat out.

Me? As long as it tastes good, I'd rather not know what happened to it.

Thanks for being honest. I figured that might be the case. ;)

The reason I brought this question up is that my mother grew up in a tiny town that had a small-time sausage maker. One day, while she was watching the man plying his craft, he reached over to grab a tissue. After sneezing into the tissue, he looked at it for a second, shrugged, and tossed it in with the rest of the meat. Ever since then she's been really leery about eating sausage. I've heard similar stories from other people too.

I remember that a few years ago, one of the criteria Consumer Reports used for rating brands of frozen pizza was the number of insect parts found on the pizzas. None of the pizzas were free of insect parts.

As Formo said, if you can't handle the idea that the food you eat is not pristine, it's probably best not to go out. The only problem with that is the food you're eating in your own home is hardly a paragon of cleanliness either. I've read estimates that as much as 30% of beef sold in stores has cancer (it's probably even higher for chicken, in which lymphoma is apparently rampant), and about 40% of fish is in fact in a state of decomposition by the time it's purchased. That latter statement makes a lot of sense to me, since the bacteria that inhabit fish are adapted to thrive in cold temperatures.

The fact is, if you haven't watched your food from seed to feed, you honestly have no idea what's in it. Thank God for immune systems.
