Escargot: slug.
Lobster: giant bug
Truffle: Looks like a turd.
Mushroom: grows in shit.
Caviar: Stuff we used to throw out when cleaning fish.
Milk: Comes out of a cow's tit....you ever notice what cows are willing to lay in?
Beer: product made from letting hops spoil.
Sauerkraut: product made from letting cabbage spoil.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I would guess it's mostly water. But the non-liquid component is about 70% sugar, yes.

And Wade, chocolate milk is typically made with sour milk, which can't be sold as "white" milk. If you taste it carefully, you can detect the sourness behind the sugar and cocoa. 😉

I've read estimates that as much as 30% of beef sold in stores has cancer (it's probably even higher for chicken, in which lymphoma is apparently rampant)...

This may ruin the day for someone who likes lobster, but if you take a cockroach and tear it up, it resembles the insides of a lobster. Do you know why? They're actually very closely related.

I have an interesting question. Does the visceral response many people have toward this story stem primarily from the fact that he tainted the sauce with semen specifically? Would people's reactions be equally strong had he tainted the sauce with any other bodily fluid? Blood, saliva, sweat, mucus, urine? What if he had been a woman and had tainted the sauce with vaginal secretions? Would that be equally repugnant?

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

I agree with your latter posts about most bodily secretions. As sick as it sounds I would rather ingest semen than urine, blood, saliva, mucus or sweat mainly because semen is generally harmless.

Semen is indeed generally harmless, though it can transmit bacteria and minute quantities of HIV since there are small amounts of white blood cells found in semen.

However, urine and blood are also sterile. If the urine isn't sterile, you're probably in for some significant discomfort. If your blood isn't sterile, you're in serious trouble (on the order of "you're probably gonna die" sort of trouble). Sweat is also sterile, as its acidic pH retards the growth of bacteria. The odor associated with sweat occurs after it's remained on the skin for some time and bacteria have begun to process the organic materials found in sweat. (By the way, soaps are alkaline and can lower the pH of skin secretions, thereby actually promoting the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the skin.)

On the other hand, saliva is unbelievably contaminated with the worst kinds of bacteria, yet we blithely swap spit in so many ways: making out, sharing beverages, etc. The irony is that a human bite is considered far more dangerous than a dog bite. Nevertheless, I've met plenty of people who think nothing of casual making out with virtual strangers -- and yet are repulsed by feet, which are practically havens of sanitation by comparison.
