I make no secret about my loyalties to Wisconsin sports, even the Bucks. I live fairly close to Denver and Nebraska is just over the border. Turns out, I work with a lot of Broncos and Huskers fans. I figured the Broncos thing, but the Huskers too? Bonus! I didn't talk much smack, which, they all did. It kind of surprised me.
Our cook, Sue, a great little old lady is a huge Broncos fan. Friday I was talking to her and saying how its gonna be a good weekend for Wisconsin sports. Badgers, Brewers and Packers. She mentioned the Huskers playing, but most around here hate Nebraska if they like the Broncos.
So today, I went down for breakfast, I didn't say a word. She brought it up and said 'shut up kev, dont even talk to me', with a big 'grandma' type smile. I said hey it was a close game, maybe next time. Then I said hey you can thank the Badgers for beating those Huskers! Oooooh that was not the thing to say. Apparently she's a big Huskers fan!
After we went back an forth, someone said something about the Broncos beating the Packers in the Super Bowl. I said, yeah congratulations on that win,.... FOURTEEN years ago, btw, who won the Super Bowl last year? The person walked away with a little grin.
I ended up with a crap load of hot peppers in my philly cheesesteak today.
Safe to say, I'm not making many friends around here.
