Really guys why do you think Mike McCarthy is a bad coach? He turned Aaron Rodgers into what he is today,He is a good offensive minded coach.Lets not forget he hired Capers and Kevin Greene only one thats suspect is slocum. His record as a coach is 42-29 not to shaby.

Keep him as QB coach. I am not fond of his play calling, probably 1/2 the time, his game management, and what I see as a lack of Killer instinct often. We could have don't a lot worse over this time, say Chilly. I also think we could have done better.

Thompson isn't going anywhere for atleast 2 years. McCarthy I'd say isn't quite on the hot seat but he'll probably find himself there next year if he doesn't produce.

If Favre pulls MM's pants down and spanks his ass twice more this year, it's over. That's all there is to it.

Favre didn't beat the Packers last year. The Packers were in both of those games until the end.

Dom Capers beat the Packers with a lousy, lose-as-slowly-as-possible strategy that virtually any informed fan could have predicted would fail before the game and in fact failed every time Capers employed it.

I would rather lose being aggressive than lose in a vain attempt to look as noble as possible in defeat.

IIRC I said in the offseson for two years now that "deep in the playoffs" should be the criterion for Ted's "safety" after the year is done.

I stand by that.

C'mon guys give Ted Thompson a chance here, we are just getting ready to start the 2nd stage of his 5 year plan. I mean look what happened to the Seahawks after he left there. Oh wait n/m they went to the Super Bowl. I have faith in Ted Thompson and that we will never be in salary cap hell and we will always be one of the younger teams in the NFL, also we will always be talked about as having great potential on the team. So give the man some time, Rome wasn't built in 5 years you know.

Now for Freddy Flintstone, his ass should be gone, he has no control over the locker room, but I am happy for this year because I haven't heard that we had bad pad level yet.

Back when we went to the 2 straight Super Bowls free agents were brought in just for the run. Andre Rison, Reggie White, Bryan Cox, Keith Jackson to name a few. So I just don't know about this thing of having faith in your players you drafted and the only trades you usually end up releasing at the end of camp anyways. I'll let you know in 15 years when we should be at the final stage of TT's 5 year plan.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Ron Cox...not Bryan Cox.

Seems a lot of people cannot distinguish between fantasy football and the real game where budgets, continuity, injuries, and a league built on parity is the norm.

Look....around the league, by the guys who have to defend his offense, MM is considered a well above-average coach and play caller. As for the 18 penalties...embarrassing, but far from the norm.

We are experiencing injuries at a pace that I have not witnessed in quite a while, which sucks. But tell me, how many LBs or safeties walk in and can perform to a level necessary to win? Few. Amd now that Nance has had a few weeks to learn the playbook, let's see what the kid can do.

Oops...TT whiffed on a few draft picks!! Heaven forbid, he has not been perfect....just like every other GM in the league. But, he got us Rodgers, Sitton, Collins, Jennings. Finley, Raji, Burnett, Neal (whom I believe will be considered a top pick at his position), all top flight or ascending players. Throw in depth guys like Jones, Nelson, Bishop and others.

FAs? Chillar, Pickett, Woodson, traded for Grant,....um, not bad.

Quite honestly, the offense is not sputtering because of playcalling, it is doing so because of the unfortunate loss of a RB, and Rodgers being inconsistent to this point. Lot's of games left to get al eight cylinders hitting.

Buncha playcallin' experts on these boards. Interesting, seeing as no one here spends 80 hours a week designing and implementing game plans.

Honestly, the level of depth that goes into offensive and defensive schemes is ASTOUNDING.

And thus SIMPLY it is almost impossible to be legitimately critical of playcalling. One simply does not possess the requisite mastery of concepts, nor is one capable to confer the success or lack of success of a playcall because the of the multitude of variables.

I don't claim any brilliance, but conversations like the one Greg C started about this topic indicate that there's usually more to a play than what immediately catches the eye.

How can someone be critical of something they don't understand? Seriously? Riddle me that -- I'll bake you a cake, a cookie, whatever you prefer. I'll wash your car. I'll get a tramp stamp. I'll take a "Croc Shot" and send it to my employers.

Even if you were the star receiver on your high school team, or you played guard at the junior-college level, or if you play a lot of Madden (like I used to), or if you're just a MMQB or keyboard warrior -- you're probably not qualified to critique playcalling at the level appropriate to be considered legitimate.

I mostly agree with you on this, but I do think there is some room for fans to be critical. The reason is that although coaches know a lot more about playcalling than any of us do, they are human and they are prone to making human mistakes--overanalyzing, being too cautious, getting into ruts, that sort of thing. The problem is that it is usually difficult for fans to determine whether coaches are really making those mistakes or whether they are calling the right plays based on information that we are not aware of, and the plays just are not working for one reason or another.

But there are patterns that emerge after awhile. For example, I have no faith in Marty Schottenheimer's playcalling in clutch situations, having watched his teams choke in the playoffs for years. Some people feel that way about Mike McCarthy. There have been times when I've wanted McCarthy to close out games more aggressively than he has, but I don't see it as a major concern. Most NFL coaches are more conservative than fans in those situations.
