Perhaps. There has been plenty of speculation that current budgets will be "grandfathered" under the new CBA, allowing teams to keep their superstar players through the duration of their budgets. I'm not sure what the precise logistics of that would be, since players were cut in the middle of their contracts all the time under the former CBA.

I think I'd need a guarantee of that grandfather clause - Peppers is making a huge wad of cash at this point.

I think the guy's a beast when he comes to play (it has been and can be argued that he's guilty of not doing so at times), and I'd be a fool to say "don't need him, don't want him". However, given the pressure the Packers are getting so far, I just don't feel like it was a miss (other than, you know, him going to a division rival - that's not so good).

No. We don't. There is no cap.

Yes, therefore we have PLENTY of cap room at Ted Thompson's disposal.

That raises an interesting question: Whom would a grandfather clause favor more -- the teams or the players? In other words, who would have to give up concessions in order for a grandfather clause to be included in the CBA? I can see it going both ways, but it's more likely, in my opinion, that the players would lobby for the clause.

Doesn't much matter. There's no cap on what I can spend either, but that doesn't mean I can spend whatever I want. Same goes with the Packers. There might not be a cap, but there is a limit on what they can spend.

I thought the D played well last night. We just couldn't catch a break with penalties and I saw a lot of missed holding calls where the Bears were mugging CM3 or Jenkins. The STs are what cost us the game between the blocked FG and Hesters punt return.

Didn't they block a FG two years ago to beat us?

We have the cap money.
I dunno why Thompson didn't go for Peppers.
He is virtually unstoppable.

To me, Peppers is the sole reason we lost last night.
He is stronger, faster, and scarier than Jared Allen.

If we had Peppers on the packers, could you have imagined
the edge rushers w/Peppers on one side and Clay Matthews on the other?

Sorry..just crying over spilled milk.

I think by now its pretty obvious that we have a GM who doesn't "believe" in signing high $$ free agents. Its also pretty obvious after last night that such "beliefs" are totally erroneous, and foolish to boot. One word: Reggie.

We lost to a team that is totally inferior in terms of talent, and as much as people have criticized McCarthy, the dumbest coach in the NFC north is easily Lovie Smith. But not by much.

They may have been inferior overall talentwise, but from a defensive end standpoint, they have one of the most dominant forces around.

Most of the penalties yesterday was around trying to stop Peppers and the OL overreacting. W/out him on the Bears...penalties go away.

If Peppers were on the packers...penalties go away and penalties increase for other teams.

I love the Packers "D" as is. That is my job, as a fan. This is what the Packers Organization has given me to love this year.

I am not the GM, I have never been a GM. I will never be a GM. So I take what they give me every freakin year and root them on with every fiber of passion in my body.

Last time I looked at the stats Peppers did not have a sack last night. In Fact the Bears "D" as a whole did not have a sack last night. But the Packers had THREE.

I do not even want to waste a single minute of my football season thinking about questions like "Should The Packers Have Got Peppers?"

For me (Personally) it is pointless.

This is my team, So are the Raiders. This is what I have been dealt.

All I can do is root them on.

beast (23-Feb) : Campbell is right, he's rich and he doesn't have to explain sh!t... but that attitude gives teams reasons to never sign him again.
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I have some doubt about all that
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I read De'Vondre Campbell's tweet this morning (via the New York Post) Florio says that if he invested his earnings wisely, he will be good
beast (20-Feb) : I haven't followed, but I believe he's good when healthy, just hasn't been able to stay healthy.
dfosterf (20-Feb) : Hasn"t Bosa missed more games than he has played in the last 3 years?
Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : He hasn't been too bad when healthy but I don't feel like I ever heard much about when he is
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Felt like he was more interested in his body, than football. He flashed more than I expected
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : When he was coming out, I thought he'd be flash in pan.
Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : Joey seems so forgettable compared to his brother for some reason
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, I see what that did. Kind of funny.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : now it's a link to Wes Hodkiezwicz mailbag
