Wade.. I agree with you.. but I can attest.. I didn't get paid days off without vacation time for any of the three children.

The way the world should work and the way it works are two different things..

BTW.. the Packers gave him time off.. lol.

You got paid time off for your kids. So what if you used vacation. You didn't get extra time off. I don't have kids and if you got extra time off, I would want extra time off. Hypothetically speaking of course.

Harrell gets a pass from me on the bad game on Saturday. His wife had to go in for an emergency C-section. It was not just the birth of his child. It was also a medical crisis involving his wife and unborn child. That takes a lot out of a guy. I am guessing you would understand.

What was I wrong about? You implied that he should be entitled to days off or not perform up to expectations.. btw, I have no problem admitting when I am wrong.

He took a couple days off for the birth of his child.. which was Wednesday. And he had to be back to work on Saturday night.. all I did was provide information that he doesn't qualify for additional time off or shouldn't be ready for work.. even though the Packers excused him in the days around the birth.

But yet we will give him a free pass on his performance?

So how long do we give him a pass on this? ;)

Okay then.. throw out some other colorful adjective for me.. two threads in a row. Where have I insulted you?

So it is clear.. I am happy he had a good day in camp.. but to announce that he has earned his way onto the squad based on a single practice or base his worth is a stretch in my opinion.

Lets see him do it against the Colts.. I hope he does.

My simple underlying point is.. if he isn't ready to play or can't play why keep him around.

Through two games in a preseason he knows he must shine. he is 1 for 2.

If he can't get the job done, he needs to be cut loose.
If he had been consistantly good, i'd cut him slack for having a bad gam, considering what he went through.
But he has done almost NOTHING to EARN all the money he has been paid as a Packer so far.
So he beter show up, EVERY day, or be shown the door.

Maybe I am not making the underlying premise clear.. the birth was Wednesday.. the game was 4 days later.. 4 days.. yet unlike most of the world.. he can fail at his job and it is okay?

Even he came out and took accountability for failing this past weekend.. he didn't offer up an excuse. Why should we?

Either way.. I hope the kid continues to play well.. and it carries over into Sundays this fall.

"I can't put it on that," he said. "It was a lot of bad footwork. Just one of those days. It was a learning experience for me. The great thing about it is you get to come back and have another chance Thursday."

The other issue dogging Harrell is the condition of his lower back. Based on his obvious lack of power at the point, the back appeared to have robbed him of considerable strength.

Harrell described the back as "a little sore" in the locker room at Qwest Field but said it didn't bother him during a light practice in shells Monday night.

"I'm not going to put it on the back," Harrell said. "There's no excuse for the way I played. I saw the film. I saw the things I need to correct."

I thought he didn't play well. I didn't think he sucked. He was taking on double teams, he got a pressure that caused an incompletion. He even made a tackle after being knocked down.

The pass he got for Saturday from me (like it matters) is over because he is back to dominating in practice.

If he expects to be great, just not sucking should very disappointing. Specially if that is the worst he has played. That tells me he has a lot more ability.

I really didn't expect him to be at peak form right now. He had been out of football a long time. I think he will get better as the season goes along. (Traditional sign off for any Harrell post) If he is healthy.
