Plus, their so called "holy book" says they SHOULD kill anyone that doesn't follow their 'religion".

Quick note: their "holy book" (the Qu'ran) is actually in Arabic.

In other words, to understand the English meaning of what is said, someone has to actually translate what is said. Any English translation is, therefore, an exegesis of someone that occupies a certain life world. Put simply, interpretations are not done in an individual vacuum.

From my discussions with those that have spent the better part of their intellectual careers studying Islamic Theology and Mythology, I've been told that where the Qu'ran actually talks about the harm that will be brought to unbelievers of "the book". Interestingly, more than a few scholars (and all those whom I have talked to) have interpreted that to not include Christians and Jews, since the Qu'ran (surprise, surprise) actually establishes the Bible and Torah as revelations from God.

Who knew? Well, I guess those that actually take the time to read and study their "holy book". But why bother listening to them?

Good for Ron Paul. At least one republican had the balls to say whats right.

The KKK claim their Christian. I suppose we should demonize all Christians and claim that they share their view.

My point is I hope that this country doesn't believe we're at war with Muslims. We're not! We're at war with Terrorists, who happen to be Muslim. Just like the KKK are insane, but that doesn't mean all Christians are as well.

Quite frankly, some of the comments I read about this and heard disturbed me a bit. People need to learn how to come out of their shell and widen their world view. Particularly the current generation running things. Stop buying into propaganda on TV and actually humble yourself a bit.

For the record, America shouldn't bring itself down to the level of other countries because they don't have tolerance for other religions. When that day comes, then that's a sad day. What makes America better is that it accepts a variety of views.

No it actually doesn't. You should do more research than to fall prey to one of the most idiotic misconceptions of all time.

I heard the nut cases called "a random few". Yet there is alot more Muslims that believe in killing us "infidels" then you would probably believe.

"Cheesey" wrote:

You know this how? I happen to know quite a few people of Islamic faith as Finland has a lot of immigrants from the Middle East. None of them are terrorists. How many muslim people do you know that have connections to terrorist organizations?

I don't see true Christians running around saying we should kill everyone that doesn't believe as we do.
Trust me.....if they could get away with it, they would kill you and your family.

"Cheesey" wrote:

Haha, no. Just no. Seriously. The Qu'ran doesn't say they should kill people of different faith. Just because some terrorists do, it doesn't everyone does. And since I'm sure innocent civilians have died during wars in the Middle East, I'm sure some of them even think that Christians kill you and your family. Try looking at it from a different point of view.

I knew (and lived with for a short time) a Muslim. Before i lived with him, i thought he was one of the nicest people i ever met. Then i started seeing the REAL him. He told me straight out he HATED America with a passion. Yet he CHOSE to become a citizen. When i asked him about the oath he took here, he told me he would say anything, it didn't mean he meant it.
THAT my friends is how most of them see us. They "put up" with us, cause for now, they have to.
THAT is REALITY.

"Cheesey" wrote:

No, it is not reality.

And really, if he hates America, let him. A lot of Finns still hate Russians because of the wars we've had in the past. It doesn't mean we're going to hunt and kill russians within our borders.

This is all I have to say to anyone who thinks Ron Paul is a "liberal": there are truly no words to describe the profundity of your ignorance. Please do a little more research than six o'clock news soundbites and Republican talking points and actually educate yourself.

This is a really good point. We are supposed to be America, right? The country that isn't like all of those other countries? We're supposed to be better than that. Just because a country does something that is completely ignorant does not justify the US doing it. All that does is perpetuate the cycle of violence and hate. When we do the exact same things as other countries, we are no different then the others and hence should not act as if we are.

This situation blows my mind and some people truly amaze me. I agree with others it is a dumb decision to want to put it there, but if we continue picking and choosing parts of the constitution to ignore, then where will the limit be? Any areas that are "sensitive?" I guess that so called Big government should step in and stop this, right? Since Big government is such a bad thing . . . except for when it's something some agree with?

Well....those of you that choose to ignore the high amount of Muslims that also happen to be terrorists, that's your "right" i guess.
Are there people that "use" religion as a way to get what they want? Rapists, and so on? Yes.
I don't remember too many times where they strapped bombs to themselves or flew planes into buildings to kill thousands of people at a time though.
I'm talking about those that want to kill as many of us as they can.
72 virgins......for doing WHAT i might ask???
Yeah i'm not P.C.
I guess that's a reason to ignore what is truely happening in the world, and listen to those that want to lull us into a false sense of security.
People tried to say the KKK was'nt dangerous. Look what THEY did. Until people opened up there eyes and accepted the truth about them.
I guess sticking your head in the sand or putting your fingers into your ears and saying "la la la" is better then being aware of whats really going on in the world.
That's ok.....it will make it alot easier when we are taken over.

Do not conflate insurgents with terrorists - many insurgents exist in Muslim countries due to the fractured and corrupt regimes that have seized power and control.

There are, to put a conservative number, 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. You are basing your generalizations off of how many? Let's include the one Muslim douche you lived with. What's the total up to? Let's say you are talking about (directly or indirectly) 200 Muslims - a very generous estimate).

Extrapolating from 200 onto 1.5 billion people. Some might call that 'telling it like it is'.

I call it being mathematically illiterate.

Where did you get the '72 virgins' thing from? You know, it's funny because shortly after 9/11 I asked many of my Muslim friends and even a couple of Professors with a Ph. D. in Islamic Studies about that very thing - getting 72 virgins in paradise for killing innocent people.

All of them - and I mean more than 20 - said they had never read or even heard of the '72 virgins' thing until after 9/11.

So either your sources of information are wrong, or my Muslim friends and Professors cannot read.

Honestly, I think you are being highly unfair in lumping a whole lot of people in with the worst of their kind.
