There are a lot of Grant haters on these boards so this should generate some interesting discussion:

"Beginning with Week 8 of the '07 season, when Grant assumed the starting job from DeShawn Wynn during an overtime win at Denver, Grant has rushed for 3,385 yards. The only other player in the NFL in that time span with more? Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, with 3,814"

The guy is not flashy, but he quietly gains a lot of yards. Not a really dynamic runner, more a slashing, knifing style. Reminds me a bit of Dorsey Levens...who quietly helped us reach the SB.

I've said I'd rather have him than AP. As awesome as AP is, he fumbles at the worst possible times. Grant fumbled a whopping 1 time the entire season.

He got 1200+ yards with our lousy OL (possibly worst in the NFL in the first half of the season but picked up in 2nd half). He also got us 11 TDs. I don't have any doubt that opposing Defensive Coordinators appreciate his abilities more than our team's fans.

Grant is a good back, we got him cheap and I like him. The only thing I don't like about him is he seems to not do well in big games. The only one I can think of that he's played well in is the Seatle playoff game. He/the running game cost us the NFC championship game against the Giants more than Brett's int. I'm happy to have him but a premier RB would really be frosting on cake for our offense. Man, would that be fun to watch.

He's not a "game changer". But he's a very solid running back and you can count on him to squeeze important yards when needed.

I guess I'd like to hear about what big games he didn't play well in other than the NFC championship where nobody on the Packers had a good game. Both Minnesota games last year he only got 10 or less carries. And in the playoff game @Arizona he only got 11 carries but was putting a 5.8 average in on those carries. The only bad game I saw him with last year was the Baltimore game, that was not impressive. When he's the first Packer Backer to put up 1200 yard seasons back-to-back and be only topped by AP over the last 2.5 seasons for yards, then I don't know what more a premier back will do for us other than sell more jerseys having a more popular name.

Good to see Grant getting some love. He's always been underappreciated. He has lived up to the Dorsey Levens comparisons that were made when he first arrived. Dorsey was a better receiver, but Grant is a better pure runner, and his durability has been remarkable (knock on wood). And he's quietly improved his receiving skills in the past couple years.

I was surprised, but not TOO surprised, that he has had the second most yards of any RB in the past 2-1/2 seasons.

Basis of the argument I carried here last season.. with comparisons of Forte (disappeared), Jackson should be starter, etc.. Grant is AP (including the fumblitis) but he is definitely a very solid number 1 back.

Might he have not done well on 1st or 2nd down which put us in 2nd or 3rd and long which forced us to pass and Rodgers was pressured(nearly got killed in the first game with Barbre) and the drive was stalled? At some point maybe he ripped off a 20+ yard gain that inflated the statistics with so few carries. There had to be a reason he didn't get more carries. And yes, sometimes it is not his fault, as with Arizona when we had to play from way behind. I see it somewhat like the Packers D, a lot of the statistics were gotten against weak teams and/or when it didn't count. Don't get me wrong, I like both the aforementioned, but I would also like to see improvement, especially against top competition.
