Welfare to work has its origins in Wisconsin under Tommy Thompson going back to the very early 1990s...after several court challenges, it was enacted. From there, it went national. Look, like I said, I applaud him for working with the opposition, but let's be real....he was dragged kicking and screaming on both welfare reform and the balanced budget amendment. I would give him massive credit for it if they were his ideas, or if he embraced the idaes rather than using them for political points. nonetheless, I applaud him for signing the bills, but credit is due elsewhere.

Rockmolder...um, he spends 20 years with a preacher who spews hate towards America and the white race; he associates with homegrown terrorist William Ayres whose Weather Underground held open contempt/hatred for America; his college papers reflect this attitude; he goes around the world kissing the ass of any/every piss ant tyrant while apologizing for America's sins; and his daily words and actions tell me clearly he does not stand behind the ideals of this nation.

Our nation has its sins...as every nation does. No need to flaunt them while completely ignoring the many GREAT things that country has afforded the world....like affording Europe, until recently, to play welfare state because America has been providing the majority military deterrent for the continent.

Enought for you....or does he have to blow up shit like Bill Ayers to prove it?

Digs - Thanks for clearing up who got the credit. I didn't know that. I thought it was Clinton's idea. Like you though, I'll still applaud him for putting his signature on the bill.

Ayers did some bad things as part of that group in the 70s. At the point that Obama associated with him, he wasn't the radical communist he was when he was young. The federal prosecutor in the Weather Underground cases went as far as saying "I am very pleased to learn that he has become a responsible citizen."

Next to that, he associated with him on such a level that they went to panels and events together. Neither would call their relationship as much as a friendship.

He hates America because not all of his associates are squeeky clean? If anything, he should give America hope for a 2nd chance for all the cast-offs. I'd go as far as saying that I loved him showing up with a figure like that.

With that preacher... Jeremiah Wrigth? His former preacher? The guy he dropped when he made those controversial remarks? I thought he handled that perfectly.

That he goes around the world just kissing the behind of any dictator is just a ludicrous statement. He just doesn't bomb everyone he doesn't agree with. He has talked forcefully about Kim Jung Il. He has issued warnings and harsh words for multiple dictatorial countries. Especially those working with uranium. A little diplomacy might actually help you, though. When he has to take action, I'm sure he will. He's boosted the number of troops in Iraq.

I can't say a sensible word about his college papers, as I've never seen them, but if they're as "hateful" as the rest of the evidence, I'm not too worried.

All of this evidence for him hating the US seems awfully circumstancial. None of it really says to me that he hates America. Going even further, none of those poeple he associated with actually hated America.

Another thing, why is he president if he hates the US? Is this all some elaborate scheme to bring down this country? He has worked in politics for ages and just slipped by everyone, while he was busy with his quest to take America down.

You're fighting a losing battle here Rockmolder. You are way too objective to discuss politics.

There is no room for objectiveness in politics. If you're a Republican, you are supposed to think that Obama is the dumbest human alive, and he he hates America. If you are a Democrat, you think Obama is the second coming of Jesus Christ. There is no middle ground.

This is why you rarely/never see me participate in political discussions. Its kind of pointless.

Yeah, one thing that drove me nuts about Republicans is all they can say about Obama is how "unamerican" he is. Whatever that means. They resort to name calling, calling him a socialist, etc.

When Bush was in office, all I heard from the Democrats is that Bush is stupid. They made fun of the way he looked. How he's a "cowboy," and how he's got "swagger" (why the **** is swagger a bad thing?).

Lame. Both Republicans and Democrats are just lame.

No policy discussion at all. No talk about economic policies. No talk about who would be better at defending the Constitution. No talk about what we should do about foreign policy. Just personal attacks.

I would love to discuss politics with people who actually discuss the issues. It can be fascinating. Just today, Digs corrected me on the welfare to work policies under Clinton. All these years, I've been giving credit to the wrong person.

See, that stuff I like. I wish people would stick to policies and knock off the name calling.

I'm in the military and I couldn't give half a squirt of piss where the President gives his speeches.

Then again, I'm pretty much an iconoclast who tends to find tradition for the sake of tradition irritating -- and defense thereof even more irritating.

The only way this country is going to get out of the mess we're in is if the two parties can come together and work to get us out. That's the sad part. Who wants to work with someone who thinks their unamerican? Who wants to work with someone who thinks their just a redneck hillbilly?

I don't know if this name calling went around all the time. I'm sure some of it did, but I do know it's ridiculous now. Maybe it's just this current generation in office.

"Tradition"....in this case, i don't care for that word. To me, it's more about RESPECT for those that fought and died in defense of this country.
That Obama won't be there to me, is a slap in the face of the people that fought and died for this country.
Like he couldn't go home at some other time? He had to pick this holiday?

I wouldn't pick just this happening for a reason to dislike him. To me, it's just another "log on the fire" as to why i don't like him. I respect the position as President, but I don't respect him.
What has he accomplished? Pushing through a healthcare bill that will bankrupt (even more) this country then it already is. Even thought the HUGE majority of Americans don't want it. He runs this as his own dictatorship. The HELL with what the people want, it's what HE wants that matters.
The people voted this guy in, and all of us will pay DEARLY for it.
I guess him not showing up at Arlington is another proof that he will do what he said, "CHANGE".
I feel sorry for the future generations that will have to pay for what this president does.

This sounds an awful lot like something that is just jammed in some people's heads, based on nothing, but which won't go away until pictures of Obama giving head to Washington pop up on the internet.

Or maybe people see through the BS of what Obama is.

I'm not giving my opinion on whether he's a good or a bad president, I'm just asking to come with some examples of how he doesn't love America. What is that based on? Him being "BS" doesn't get me any further.

My bad dude. I misread your post, big time. In this instance, I could care less where he was for Memorial day. I never watched any president say their speech on Memorial day because I was always busy doing my own thing.

But, in regards to Obama's love for America.. I can't say one way or another. But his policies are, in my opinion, completely unAmerican.
