Well, no doubt Warhawk is up there, but if he goes past me he is just being a homer.

lol

If Ted has Okung, Bulaga, Campbell, Davis, Williams or Brown available at 23 and doesn't take ANY one of them, he is NUTS.

NUTS

If you are not THRILLED that one of them fell to us, you are NUTS too, imo... KILLS me that some say, "Oh, I don't LIKE so and so because...yada yada yada"

He has failed to produce as a GM.

Yes because he the team sucks... they only made the playoffs...

If he doesn't recognize the priority, he should be replaced.

Yes he's so dumb, he wouldn't recognize a priority that the rest of the NFL, including the stupid people in the media have recognized.

The Green Bay Packers should be "known" for their o-line, if any team should.

"dfosterf" wrote:

I'm not sure why that is... I'm guessing that's just an opinion. But I'd let another team but known for it to win a couple of superbowls...

Bah quit being salty foster lol. Everyone knows our line needs work, but to call for Thompson's head? A little early buddy 😉

Thompson hasn't even had any opportunity to fix our terrible line from last year so your complaint just doesn't make sense unless you felt the same way 1 or more months ago.

I'm going to assume this thread was posted just to make the forum a little more lively. You don't fire a guy who oversees the franchise over one position. Let's get that out of the way.

The Packers have a problem along the offensive line, but they're solid in a lot of other areas because of Ted Thompson. Five years ago, the idea of Favre retiring or leaving meant the Packers were going to be a joke much like they were in the 70s and 80s. That's not the case now because Thompson drafted a replacement in Aaron Rodgers, who by all accounts is the real deal.

If you were to poll scouts around the league and ask them to name one of the most talented young teams in football, Green Bay is near the top of the list. Thompson is apart of the reason why. That in itself can't be ignored. He's made mistakes, but every GM does. I heard a quote that Ron Wolf said if you're batting 300 as a GM, you're doing a good job. That's 30% of your decisions going well. I don't think we're to take him literally by that number, but it does illustrate that not every decision will be good. Every GM will have Justin Harrells and Marquand Manuels.

The foundation of this team is heading in the right direction. I wrote about that before. I'm confident in this team more than I've been in along time. I disagree so much with the idea that GB is closer to being bad than good. I find that statement ridiculous. They're already good for once. 11 wins in the NFL is not easy. Not many teams can consistently do that.

Bad is Detroit, St. Louis, Buffalo, Oakland, Kansas City etc....

Green Bay is closer to Dallas than those teams.

As far as the offensive line goes. The offensive line is not bad. The tackles are bad. That's the problem. Green Bay has some interior guys.

Josh Sitton is going to be a very good guard in the NFL. He's solid in all areas. Always in the right position and probably the best guard this team has had since Mike Wahle. Scott Wells is a center you can get by with. He's not great, but he's definitely workable. He isn't going to lose you a lot of games. Jason Spitz at left guard works. He's solid there. Other teams have tried to trade for him in the past actually. I wouldn't be shocked to see him sign as an RFA this year. I don't think it'll happen because of the 2nd round tender, but wouldn't rule it out.

My point is they have the interior guys. Two of those are Thompson draft picks. I think they're in position to finally set something up long-term at guard.

If you think Green Bay is going to sit on their hands and not address tackle via the draft, then perhaps you have some beef, but I highly doubt that will happen. I think the Packers are going to draft a LT with one of their first two picks. That tackle will likely compete with Chad Clifton or a free agent signing.

I think T.J. Lang is set in stone as the right tackle next season. Based on what I've read, Lang is who they want for that position and I think Lang is capable of getting the job done.

That's the tackle outlook next year. The improvement from the younger guys and hopefully Aaron Rodgers getting rid of the ball faster will go along ways in improving the offensive line and the offense as a whole.

It would take a major major failure of a season for Ted and Mike to be shown the door next year imo.

I also disagree with the premise that we're closer to being a bad team than a good team. I think we're actually very close. Our defense is missing one more pass rusher and assuming Harris is done one more standout corner.

The defense is really just missing a couple tackles and possibly a good #2 RB.

If we could draft/sign a solid LT, and then clone Grant, Tramon Williams, and Clay Mathews I think we'd have a superbowl contender.

Why do we still have this o-line coach? He can't coach them. Why are we constantly drafting under 310 lb linemen? They can't block for us.

I'd be interested to see a comparison with other OLines. It seems nearly all the best ones have guys picked up from all over the place and plugged in alongside higher draft picks and pro bowlers.

Our own cast off (forgotten his name) wound up playing in the Superbowl this year protecting Payton Manning.

The Steelers won a Superbowl with a notoriously bad OLine which received a lot of criticism.

Very few appear to be completely filled with young, rising, solid players. Most seem to be a mish-mash of ageing verterans on their last legs, undrafted free agents and failed Tackles-turned-Guard type guys.

The more I think about it the more I feel comfortable with 4 of our 5 spots. Left Tackle is the gaping wound right now which needs adressing.

Zero2Cool (4h) : Hail Mary stop away from 5 - 2. Not sure how that flips to tanking. Crazy mindset if true
beast (4h) : I've quietly questioned if Bears are tanking on purpose... they suddenly got a lot worse with some simple concepts like 101 clock management

Mucky Tundra (14h) : The Seattle Seahawks defeat the Chicago Bears 6-3. Jason Myers had 6 RBIs for Seattle while Cairo Santos had 3 RBI for Chicago
beast (15h) : Not nessarily, he might of been injured either way. He's playing about 50% of the games the last 4 years
Zero2Cool (21h) : If they'd been more patient with him, he'd be back already. Putting him out there vs Bears caused him to tweak it and here we are.
packerfanoutwest (21h) : well this is his last season with the PAck, book it

packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
