Case in point.

This is a small thing, in the big scheme.

It does, however, say something about Ted.

Jamon Meredith was put in a position by this team to be let go as a PS player.

I didn't want him in the first place, but that's neither here 'nor there.

Why is Breno Giocamini on this football team? (Or however the hell you spell it, worthess POS)

Why, why why?

Fucking Meredith is going to START for Beefalo....

He wastes picks worse than some of you do.

Someone give me ONE FUCKING REASON why a Breno stays and a Jamon walks...

I suggest you stand by the sidelines for this one. No offense to you personally, but speaking for myself, I am in my "wound up about this" mode, especially when hearing Ted an co's comments about it, coupled with the GD draftniks and their GD profound GD wisdom, GD it.

Not a joke, more along the lines of a rant... A GD leather-strapped-rapier-sharp-wise rant, but a rant, nevertheless.

It just amazes me that Ted Thompson, widely regarded amongst his peers based on comments I have read over the years, is still brutalized by fans. Is he perfect? Nope....which GM is??!?

Unlike so many of his peers who have appeased fans and their own ego by signng big name FAs in hope of the quick fix, and whose signings have often lead to horrible cap situations, Ted Thompson has this team poised to be HIGHLY competitive for years to come, and in good cap shape.

Were you by chance screaming for Haynesworth last year? Careful what you wish for......

He does need to address the LT and possibly LG this year in the draft, and hopefully sign Clifton and Tauscher for one more year. That said, we have Sitton (widely recognized as being on the cusp of becoming something special), Lang (who will probably be our RT of the future and who showed well for a youngster), Spitz (when healthy a very decent player) and Colledge (who has been very erratic, but some of it due to changes on either side of him). The core of a really good line is here with Wells included....just need to get that LT of the future in the draft....and possibly a LG later to compete.

Like said before, I don't know if you can totally put this on Ted. It's obvious that something's going wrong somewhere along the process of getting O-linemen. Whether that's with Ted not evaluating the talent, Mike not asking for the right guys or Campen just not being able to develop them (my guess right there), something's wrong.

O-linemen:

2005:
C/G Junius Coston - 5th
G Will Whitticker - 7th

2006:
OT/G Daryn Colledge - 2nd
C/G Jason Spitz - 3rd
OT/G Tony Moll - 5th

2007:
OT Allen Barbre - 4th

2008:
OT/G Josh Sitton - 4th
OT Breno Giacomini - 5th

2009:
OT T.J. Lang - 4th
OT Jamon Meredith - 5th

It's not like we've been ignoring the position. Obviously, Ted Thompson sees that it needs some fixing, as well. I asume, though, that he gets word from people under him that his picks are progressing nicely, which means that he can wait untill later rounds to add some depth.

Last year, for instance. There was a lot of talk in training camp about Barbre looking quite good etc. Maybe he and his coaching staff put a little too much trust in these projects.

Luckey, Ted's head won't be the first to roll. It'll be Campen --> McCarthy --> Thompson. Maybe McCarthy and Campen go together, but I see Ted getting at least another year.

You just remember how fast and passionate everyone was calling for the heads of everyone on this staff through 8 games.

I went through 28 GD years of suckage coming off arguably the best fucking franchise in the history of this GD league, long before many on the GD forum were born. It ain't the GD Lombardi trophy because they like fucking Wisconsin, GD it...I know how good teams are built, and I also know what undermines the potential of a GD good team.

This cannot be taken as anything less than an GD emergency situation.

Mock your GD RB's and fucking WR's, and GD ILB's or whatever...but mark these GD words...

Rock - Well said. MM goes before TT. I'm willing to bet a bottle of fine scotch on that one.

As for his record with OL, he's got 2.5 I like. I like Spitz and Sitton and I halfway like Lang. He has drafted a lot of guys there so I think you're right about Campen going before MM and MM before TT.

Ted's had some real good wins over the year elsewhere. Yes, our OL sucks ass. I'm not denying that at all. All in all though, he's a better than average GM and I disagree with David. I think we're more good than bad. But yes, we're an injury to Aaron Rodgers away from being a mediocre team and if that happens, someone's head needs to roll for not fixing the OL. I'd say Campen though, not TT.

This is a great post.

I really think it's high time to find our LT of the future. If thats means shipping a 1st and 2nd to trade up to a team like the Bucs or Chiefs that have concerns about pay role and nabbing Okung, or shipping it to a rebuilding team like Cleveland or a team with an adequate replacement (New Orleans). We have holes on our roster, but CANNOT win without Rodgers. Flynn is nowhere close to being ready. I know people are hesitant to give up high picks, but nothing is riskier than losing a top 4 QB a killing your season. (How many years did it take Cincinatti to recover from Carson Palmer's injury???) With Suh/McCoy, Jared Allen, and an aggressive Bears defense matching up for 8 games this season, we need help.

It's a no brainer to me. We give up what it takes to protect Aaron Rodgers.

You know what it never ceases to amaze me. I thought it was pretty much agreed by MOST here that if proven wrong, and getting into the playoffs, they would lay off management and coaches.

Many were skeptical that the playoffs would happen. Well it did happen and get used to it because this team is not on any downswing but up and coming.
Ted Thompson went after guys that would help the 3-4 along last year. He really had no choice. While we were paper thin at Tackle the very worst happened before Tauchsher could come back and that was nobody stepped up along with Clifton going down.

He's put a lot of damned good players on this football team and will continue to do it in April and beyond. I don't look for the Oline to be a problem next year. They fixed it at a full run in the middle of the year last year and that was much harder to accomplish than getting pieces in place through an offseason. I have no problem with the middle of the line and Lang can play somewhere at a high level.

Woodson-All Pro, Collins-All Pro, Mathews-All Pro, Rodgers-All Pro, Finley and Jennings are awesome, Sitton and Raji are risers. So is Williams.

He found THE replacement for Favre, has one of THE best set of guys that can catch the ball and one the top defenses in the league but because the guy on the right side didn't step up in Tauchsers place and Clifton went down we should can the guy.

I guess I will just say I disagree. I could just see some other bozo stepping in and f'ing everything up or do you not remember the last guy we had doing this.

I too went back and looked at Ted's o-line selections.

He has failed miserably in that department.

If you take him at face value, he isn't especially concerned going into next year.

It kills me that some think that it will somehow take care of itself, and we are somehow to just trust in [insert what we are supposed to trust in]

AS I HAVE SAID, I have supported Ted more than anyone.

While all the WHINERS did their Randy Moss WHINING, I stayed out of it, because I thought Ted was right. Same with the Favre WHINERS. Same with the Corey Williams WHINERS. Same with the Gonzales WHINERS.

Why do we still have this o-line coach? He can't coach them. Why are we constantly drafting under 310 lb linemen? They can't block for us.

He better get o-line talent, or I am done with him.

The need is so obvious, it is beyond ridiculous, and the thing is, IT HAS BEEN THAT WAY, which is why he gets NO PASS.

at a minimum, I'll get this board back to yappin', lol
