If the Saints winning this game is THAT important to the people of New Orleans then in no way is the Katrina story overblown.

Sports is just sports for a lot of people, but in a lot of ways, it's an escape from reality. Based on the images coming out of New Orleans, I think this win allowed an entire region an escape from the harsh reality they've been enduring.

Sometimes people just need a break from all of it and this game/team was/is their break.

I think it's the best story the NFL has seen this decade.

Screw that.

The PEOPLE of Nawleans stayed in the Superdome during the aftermath.. And if you remember correctly, they literally treated like a dump. Didn't it take a year to renovate the Dome AFTER the people got out? How thankful they must have been! ::roll:

I have a friend that lives in Huston.. He owns a security business (he's highly trained, military and otherwise) and he shot over to New Orleans to help. Only to have to deal with the looting and the complete lack of respect the people of Nawleans (that stayed during the storm) were.

People in New Orleans were shooting at cops after the hurricane. Color me unimpressed.

And I hate cops.

Ah, the only problem with your analysis, Foster, is that you think Pennsylvania is different in its politicians and choice thereof.

Here in Iowa the Republicans are looking to put Terry Branstad forward as their candidate again.....despite his having demonstrated, in his earlier stints, his idiocy.

Our gov'mint also spends an average of $14,000 per employee "showing them how their job works". (National average for state employees is something like $700.)

Don't tell VR and Formo this, but I actually thought Minnesota showed a bit of temporary hope for relative sanity when they elected "The Body" for a term. (Of course they quickly reverted to type.)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

My problem is slightly different than that. I am absolutely cursed by having been exposed to (incredible, but true) excellent government. I wouldn't wish such a thing on anyone. Many parts of me wish I had never seen such a thing, as it is so deviant from the norm that all else is a source of never-ending frustration.

Poor Viking fans,,......they thought they would get some kind of "revenge" by watching the Saints fall to the Colts.
Didn't happen now, did it????LOLOL!!!

While I can't speak for all the Purple faithful, I was pulling for the Saints to win. Good game, enjoyed it.

I always pull for the NFC team..........unless it is the Packers. ::wink:

Wow....i am SHOCKED!
The other Viking fans i talked with were telling me how happy they would be to see Manning beat the Saints.
At least you got the team you were pulling for to win! I was pulling for them too. (Don't you HATE that? Knowing that you were cheering for the same team i was???)

Okay, you can't leave me hanging like that. Otherwise I'm going to suspect that you had a "serious bout with hallucinegic drugs" earlier in your life. :)

Now maybe if you want to go all historical and point to, say, Geo. Washington; but you're not that old. "Excellent government" in the last 50 or so years....this example I gotta hear about. 🙂

Oh yes...and pointing out the occasional "good politician" isn't enough, anyway. you didn't say "excellent" mayor or whatnot; you said "excellent government."

:)
