Continuing on the Glass Half Full side of things:
Overall, it seemed the fanbase had a succinct list of concerns about the matchup -
1. Would they be able to generate pressure on the QB? They were - 5 sacks, two on Vick? That's a good bit of pressure, and I'm only counting the sacks.
2. Would they be able to control the Eagles WRs? They were. Yeah, Shields got victimized. Once. Otherwise, their pass game wasn't a problem. No question the pressure in item 1 contributed to this, but the result is that the Eagles were held to under 200 yards passing.
3. Special Teams: Would they be special, or "special"? They were the former - they were solid. They covered kicks, they managed 2 great kick returns, and Crosby set a new FG record. Much improved, I'd say.
4. Would the O-line hold? It did not. Yes, the Eagles are one of the best teams at bringing pressure, but the fact is that the Packers weren't able to counter that effectively in the first half.
So, one out of four major concerns turned out to be true - that ain't bad.
The two main factors leading to the game even being close - Rodgers having a very off day and Vick running wild - weren't even on the radar. And in the end, they overcame those two things with strong performances in at least two areas that we the fans were worried about prior to the game.
The more I reflect on this win, the better it feels. Rodgers is unlikely to lay another egg like that one, and we're not going to see Vick again this year unless it's in the playoffs, and I'm sure there'll be a better plan for him if that plays out.
At this point I have one main concern: WTF is up with Tausch and Cliffy? No question Cole is a monster, but it's not like he's the best guy they're going to see this year. That makes me a bit nervous.
