Continuing on the Glass Half Full side of things:

Overall, it seemed the fanbase had a succinct list of concerns about the matchup -

1. Would they be able to generate pressure on the QB? They were - 5 sacks, two on Vick? That's a good bit of pressure, and I'm only counting the sacks.

2. Would they be able to control the Eagles WRs? They were. Yeah, Shields got victimized. Once. Otherwise, their pass game wasn't a problem. No question the pressure in item 1 contributed to this, but the result is that the Eagles were held to under 200 yards passing.

3. Special Teams: Would they be special, or "special"? They were the former - they were solid. They covered kicks, they managed 2 great kick returns, and Crosby set a new FG record. Much improved, I'd say.

4. Would the O-line hold? It did not. Yes, the Eagles are one of the best teams at bringing pressure, but the fact is that the Packers weren't able to counter that effectively in the first half.

So, one out of four major concerns turned out to be true - that ain't bad.

The two main factors leading to the game even being close - Rodgers having a very off day and Vick running wild - weren't even on the radar. And in the end, they overcame those two things with strong performances in at least two areas that we the fans were worried about prior to the game.

The more I reflect on this win, the better it feels. Rodgers is unlikely to lay another egg like that one, and we're not going to see Vick again this year unless it's in the playoffs, and I'm sure there'll be a better plan for him if that plays out.

At this point I have one main concern: WTF is up with Tausch and Cliffy? No question Cole is a monster, but it's not like he's the best guy they're going to see this year. That makes me a bit nervous.

Positives
- Jordy Nelson looks like a different player in the return game. Zero hesitance and moving north/south with very little east/west movement.

- Defense was stellar. I won't put anything on them in the 2nd half because I think that can all be placed on Capers going vanilla while up.

- Clay Matthews is a beast. Screw the haters that say he is a 1 trick pony...why does it matter when his one trick works time and time again. Shut it.

-Interior offensive line was holding their own.

-Jennings and Driver make great plays.

-Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn provided valuable back-up when needed.

-Superior play by Woodson, as usual.

Negatives
- Aaron Rodgers is completely off his game.
-looking for Finley way too much.
-holding onto the ball too long.

- Clifton and Tauscher played like a bunch of queefs out there.

- Defensive line took a major hit.

Overall, this was a good performance. The Packers didn't play a push over team and we were up 27-10 with Aaron Rodgers not at his best and Ryan Grant out. As usual, we went vanilla with the lead and this will always piss me off. We shouldn't let up on a team, especially when their 2nd string "anything can happen" quarterback comes in.
This game doesn't put me down in any way about this years expectations. If anything, I think the team grows from the negative things. We have a quarterback who is truly disappointed with his performance, this is a good thing to have.
The Pack are still a great team in my book.

Why do u guys think Mike Vick is considered a "Backup" or at least bad as one u guys underestimate Vick he is and played better than Kolb.Plus the guy is a 3 time pro bowler. You can see that in the game when he rushed for 100 yrds just face it he is not a backup caliber player.

Finley - That is an excellent question, but to save this topic from being derailed, I will create a new one in the NFL section. Give me 5 minutes to write up why I don't think Michael Vick is a good QB.

Oh, and there's nothing to me that suggests Vick as a backup. He is as, if not more so, dangerous than he's ever been. When on, he can dominate like no other QB can....we found out in the playoffs. He's just a weird freak of nature that no one can explain...our D showed immensely that they're for real even "containing" him, believe that!

I went golfing with my one neighbor Tim today. He is the Steelers fan.

My other neighbor (Ed,,,Iggles fan) --- He went and serviced his laundromats... he left at 5:00 AM somehow- He was complete toast after that debacle (to him) last eve.

This is the guy that got his pool to 105.

I rolled home from the golf,,,only to see----3 inflatable cheeseheads, a full-case of some serious fireworks (mortars, etc.- he procured from MD), and a case of Fransikaner sitting on my side porch...pretty as a picture...

The man has real class. I had already completely RELEASED him from the my Fransikaner vs. HIS Peroni bet, yet he felt obligated to pay, anyway.

His explanation to me was that "I am trying to teach myself not to bet on my Eagles" ... and "Save me one, will ya?"

Classy. :thumbleft:

I never understood this. Why were people complaining about CM3 only having one method to get a sack? Who cares? The results say 10 sacks in '09, two after only one game in '10.

I could care less if he gets sacks while juggling 3 hacky sacks and wearing a potato sack over his head. What matters are the results, not the method.

Agreed about going vanilla. Once again, we had a team that was near death and MM failed to kill them off. Instead, we let the clock kill them.

Keep putting up points until the opposing Coach runs onto the field and has a hissy fit. Then you know the game is over.

Oh, and Finley--- I plus one'd you for (apparently) having to put up with Twinkie's b.s.

I am also going to plus one twinkie for delivering it in the first place... as soon as the software lets me.

Friggin' Twinkie is one drunk asshole during games, but yet.. I like it!

It's a perverted thing. :tongue3:
