One thing I liked too was Charles Woodson stripping the ball. And when he almost had an INT. Looked very good still.

The way I look at it is we won a road game in a tough place to play and scored 27 points against a good defense without Rodgers playing very well.
IMO one of the reasons this got close resulted from a depleted DL that I thought did an excellent job short-handed.

Vick is a one of a kind QB and we won't face many like him again especially in the division with Favre, Cutler, and, Stafford. This was a perfect setup for him with Rodgers not clicking and the defense being on the field for most of the 4th quarter.

Good teams find ways to win when they aren't playing very well. I think if Rodgers plays like this last year we lose this game. It's not all bad when a great QB gets a wake-up call but still one in the win column.

Great post. +1. I'm really, really happy they got Vick when he wasn't prepared to play all the snaps - if he sticks in that spot, he's going to give some teams fits all year long.

On a individual note.. Matthews apparently has expanded his game in terms of hand work at the line of scrimmage.. I think I can personally put that little worry to bed that he wouldn't continue to develop his game.

I look forward to continue watching this kid develop.. it is enjoyable is all hell to watch a good football player develop into a great one.

Really enjoyed the defensive unit as a whole. Had to play way too much in the 4th quarter but made the plays that were needed to seal the win. Usually I'm on Tramon's ass but I think he had a heck of a game. Saw him tip away multiple passes and there weren't really any plays that made me do the Picard facepalm. The only defensive play of the game that really made me yell at the tv was giving up the 12 yard touchdown run. For me TD runs are unacceptable if longer than 5 yards out.

Watching Matthew's put it all on the field the way he does is what makes this sport so enjoyable for me. The cliche of being a warrior is not lost on him.

Either that, or Mike McCarthy has some sort of moral objection to blowing opponents out. ;)

This is what I'm wondering.

Once again, we had these guys by the throat. We should have kept running up the score on them. People in the chat room were starting to panic (and I was reassuring them that we'd win, and 1-0 is what matters).

MM needs to be more like Bellichick. When the guy is down, shoot him until he stops wiggling. The Eagles were still wiggling.

Oh, kudos to CM3 who I've always admired, and Jordy Nelson, who I have failed to credit in the past. I was wrong about Nelson not being a good KR. I'm glad I'm wrong. He looked good out there returning kicks.

We won - on the road in a tough place to play.
Woodson - he's still got it. No worries there...
Matthews - monster game. The 4th and 1 stuff of Vick was the icing on a great cake.
Grant - His last few runs before the injury were fantastic. Hope he takes next week off.
Defense in general - loved the QB pressure, even if Vick was able to run away from it.
Penalties - the lack thereof.
Special teams - especially kick returns. Jordy had a 31 yd average, IIRC.
Punting - Masthay did well, I thought.

Dislikes:
Rodgers - shaky and rattled. Not himself at all.
O Line - see above. Clifton and Tauscher looked average at best. Although Colledge looked good and Sitton is a beast.
Driver - looked pissed every time I saw him. Anybody know what that was about?
Defense against Vick - yeah, I know he's hard to defend and we weren't planning on seeing that much of him, but, jeez... If he'd started we'd have lost.
Harrell - I can't remember another player so star-struck. Karma's against us on this one, I think.

I mentioned this in another thread.. get accustomed to this.. this is carry over from the past couple of years.. they struggle with speed and power on a fast turf and will continue.

And it has a ripple effect on the offense.. especially with an average running game to slow it down some.

Reason #1 for us needing Home Field this season if we have serious Super Bowl aspirations.

I'll be doing my video review of the game while watching Monday night football tonight. I have a differing opinion on the idea that we are too conservative in play calls. It all comes down to execution. If the same plays had been called but executed on properly the Packers would have likely continued to score more points, but they didn't. It isn't like we ran the ball three straight times and punted every possession. Here's a breakdown of the 4th quarter.

1st possession: incomplete pass on 3rd down
2nd possession: incomplete pass on 1st down, interception on 3rd down
3rd possession: incomplete pass on 3rd down
4th possession: victory formation

If you are going to blame anybody for not crushing the juggular it goes on Rodgers, not the play calling. 3rd down has always been a strong suit for Rodgers, and it just wasn't this game. We didn't run it on 3rd down once to just try and fight the field position battle. McCarthy gave the offense a chance to continue moving the ball and they failed, plain and simple.

i said the same thing, almost verbatim, to my buddy while watching the game yesterday. so strange to see Cool Chico that rattled. i'd love to believe it had more to do with their defense being hella intense and not our O-line bein' hella "last year".

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.
