Colledge has proven inconsistent enough that I wouldn't be shocked to see him not starting sooner rather than later.

If you look at us starting the season, I feel good about Chad being healthy, Mark being in there, Rodgers said. But two guys Daryn (Colledge) is Mr. Consistency, hes done a good job for us when hes played left guard but I dont think (right guard) Josh Sitton gets enough credit, hes played excellent. And (center) Scott Wells, after sitting last year for a few weeks, hes as consistent as they come but hes also really smart. He takes a lot of the pressure off me to make protection calls.

One can watch Colledge from 2007 through last season and watch him struggle game in and out with consistency from series to series and sometimes from snap to snap.

The guy is very capable of being a very good NFL guard, however to date, he has been marred with inconsistency in technique and his reads.. this is not a shocker.

What else is the QB of the team suppose to say in public.. the guy sucks at times?

Rodgers knows what writers, scouts and fans have to say about Colledge and his documented struggles the last couple of years.. I am sure that is why he picked that verbage.

Hopefully with a good push from the rookie this season, he finally makes good on that potential game in and out.. not just parts of each game or season.

Apparently he has earned the trust of MM to begin the season as the starter, but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes if his recent track record of the past couple season rears it head again.

I didn't think it was much of a question that Colledge has struggled with consistency and his play during his tenure.

Heh. Agreed things get around to players.

What's Rodgers supposed to say? "Colledge is going to get me killed with his inconsistency. I'm hoping Ted Thompson drafts or trades for a real good Guard so I could be playing in 2020."

Man, he does seem arrogant. That's all good and well, but at least back it up on the field. "I had one bad game at guard last year." Really? That's interesting . . .

How many bad games at guard did you count?

I didn't think he was very good for the majority of the season. I will give him credit that he improved as the season went on, but overall I wasn't that impressed. Hopefully this is the season he finally puts it all together.

I think he had about 7 or 8 bad games... (let's go with the bigger numbers) so 8.... I think he had 2 or 3 of those bad games at LT (going with bigger numbers again) so 3 ... so he had about 5 bad to poor games at G?

So you think Rodgers HAD TO call Colledge "Mr. Consistency" because he's so inconsistent? Um, OK. Was it, like back in grade school, opposite day at Lambeau so he had to say EXACTLY the opposite of the truth? That was his only possible approach? Are his quotes about all the other OL guys total lies too?

It's not possible that he could have a different perspective than you, so he's obviously just lying to cover for his obviously VERY inconsistent teammate by calling him "Mr. Consistency."

And you say you are sure of it. Huh.

I tend to think he said it because, while not great, Colledge is fairly consistent as a decent starting LG who never misses a game. He gets beat sometimes, like most NFL guards do. That doesn't make him "inconsistent". Maybe "durable but fairly average," or "a journeyman".

I think many fans misuse terms like "consistent" pretty consistently. :albino: For Colledge to qualify as what many fans feel is consistent, he'd have to be a great player, almost never get beat, and be a candidate for the Pro Bowl. When Rodgers says it, I tend to think it means that Colledge is a solid player who generally plays OK, as long as he's not at LT.

Anyway, I just posted it because I found it interesting that the QB would say the exact opposite of what people on here take as the undeniable Gospel truth. Probably just a difference in word usage.

Of course Rodgers is going to talk up a player. That's his teammate and he'll defend him because he's a good teammate.

However, looking at through an objective lens, Colledge has been inconsistent. One week he shows up and the next week he doesn't. It's not about being a great player or being able to stand up the Kevin Williams' of the league. It's about consistency and he hasn't been there. He gets knocked on the ground quite a bit.

There is a reason why Mike McCarthy came very close to pulling the plug on him last year and inserting T.J. Lang into the starting lineup. That reason is consistency.

Now he's had a great preseason. No doubt about it. We'll see if that carries over. I'm skeptical, but the first game versus Philadelphia is going to be tough as they have really good interior defensive lineman. He'll have some tough matchups especially in the running game.

Of course, I believe that arrogance should be backed up. That's why I find it an attractive quality. There is arrogance that stems from a sense of entitlement (the kind you find in kids who come from blue blood families), and there is the arrogance that flows out of accomplishment. I find the latter very attractive.

But again, Colledge didn't sound arrogant to me. He sounded confident. He acknowledged repeatedly and forthrightly that there was improvement to be made and he intended to continue improving. I don't see what the fuss is about. Midwesterners always seem to think anyone who's not constantly self-deprecating is highfalutin' and uppity. I find that annoying.

I don't find arrogance in someone that claims that they are battling to keep their starting position every week. That sounds humble to me.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
