Bulaga's injury ended the competition. It's getting too late to insert Bulaga into the starting lineup, and Colledge has played well enough that there is no reason to rush Bulaga. Like porky said, Colledge may not hold the job for long anyway. But I'm glad he's played well in the preseason, and I'm glad he's got some other players pushing him. He seems to need that.

Last time Colledge had to fight for a spot, he had a good year. I am OK with him having another year like that. We can trade him after the year. I wouldn't want to keep a player that only worked hard when he was afraid of losing his job. But if he is going to have a good year, put him in.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to comment on the syntactical choice in the thread title. 😉

In all seriousness, I like the choice. The o-line was solid last year the second half of the season. Stick with what works.

^ To add to that, Rodgers himself has said we need linemen to get consistent reps at one position and do away with shuffling the guys, and if that happened we'd be alright along the line.

I know OC Philbin said he liked versatility and those complaining about being moved too much (hi, Daryn) needed to stop whining and get used to it.

Hopefully with Bulaga on the squad, we can get Colledge some consistency and he can be solid for us.

Yay team.

Good to see he's having a good preseason, i'm fine with going with what we finished last year with. But I bet he's on one short ass leash as soon as Bulaga and Spitz can show there back to %100.

Personally, I don't roll that way, but if Mike thinks that is what it takes to keep him motivated, I'm all for it. Amazing what happens behind the scenes. :tongue3:

I wonder if this would have been necessary if Bulaga had been given reps at guard throughout rather than just the last couple weeks.

Now with Bulaga missing time because of the hip injury, McCarthy has to make the decision on a very limited number of reps from Bulaga.

IMO Colledge looked pretty good against Indy and okay against Cleveland. I didnt see the Seattle game. Bulaga has looked better to me, but DC hasn't looked bad.

OTOH, the most notable feature of Colledge's play over the last five years has been inconsistency. He's looked good before, and he's looked mediocre to bad before, and he's done both with some frequency.

My personal belief is that Bulaga will demonstrate far less inconsistency. But as of right now, he hasn't had enough reps for Mikey to know.

Hence Daryn wins, by default more than being the superior player at the position, again.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Martha Careful (16h) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
