I hate the police and I hate tasers so obviously I think it was excessive. I remember hearing somewhere that when cops first introduced tasered they were deemed to be a lesser violent way to apprehend a potentially violent suspect and would only be used when deemed necessary. Now a security guard at a baseball game is tasing a 17 year-old kid that decided to run onto the field? Yuck. Yea, I agree the kid had whatever was coming to him because he did break the law but still, this is a bit ridiculous. Police have too much power and can get away  with practically anything.

So because some police officers take advantage of their 'power' we should live in an unpoliced state? What is your solution to this apparent issue? Last I checked, they are people too, and given this crap they have to deal with on almost daily, it's actually surprising there isn't MORE 'bad cops'.

And BTW, tasers aren't as bad as most people make them out to be. And again.. it's better than what would have happened in NY.

its funny when fat people get tasered, they jiggle
i wonder if he jiggled?

You people realize that apart of taser 'training' and use, one has to go through actually getting tasered themselves, right? So the one doing the tasering knows exactly what the tasee is going through.

Morality has nothing to do with using a taser.

No, actually, I didn't know that.

Of course there are some people who like getting a certain kind of pain I wouldn't want to give a pain-giving device to.

If use of an object that can cause pain has no moral content, what the fuck does have moral content?

You are still confusing (a) statements about how an act can be immoral with (b) whether a particular example of that act is immoral.

Use of a pain- or harm-giving device irresponsibly is immoral. And the amount or kind of training they may have had doesn't make it any less so. Indeed, one might argue (though I'm not doing so) that those with such training have a higher obligation of responsibilty than those who don't.

I don't object to the use of tasers as an absolute principle. I object to immoral use of any object that can do harm or cause pain.

Formo is right, of course. To be certified in the use of a Taser, one must first be tased, just as one must be pepper sprayed before being authorized to use pepper spray.

lol I'm not saying it's a walk in the park. But I am saying that it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Just ask Allen Page how being tasered went. I think it took 3 tasers, and 3 guys trying to tackle him before he got brought down. And he's a piss old man.

And again.. it's better than what would have happened in NY.

Do you even know why I said what I did? In Yankee Stadium those security officers are brutal. Think of Adam Sandler's movie 'Waterboy'.

Either way, don't be a dummy. There's a fine line of stupidity.. And jumping the fence at a pro game is where the line is very obviously drawn. You do as such, and you better be ready to pay whatever consequences are dealt.. Whether it's being blasted in the ribs by a NY guard or tasered by the Philly guard.

I wasn't defending what the guy did. I was saying that to imply he should be glad for the treatment he received because it could be worse elsewhere is a faulty line of logic. To argue that one wrong is acceptable because another wrong is worse is not an argument I buy.

Nowhere have I expressed an opinion as to whether they should have tased the boy or not. One can criticize arguments without necessarily disagreeing with their conclusion.   😛

I know you weren't defending the guy. I don't think it's wrong. The taser bit. I like it.. It would help deter any sober fan from thinking about attempting to get his 15 seconds of fame. Not to mention.. If you watch the video.. the kid looked like a handicap running around swinging that towel or whatever he had in his hand. Seriously? How is that cool? I'll show you cool when you are clenching down on some of this voltage here..

I question the notion that a Taser should be used as an arbiter of coolness.
