Ok O-line help one hole, LB is another hole they have proven they can't cover shit, CB we are very weak and people are counting on an aging Harris to be healthy, and then we have a hole at saftey with Bigby. I'm not being negative just using what everyone else is saying in different threads. We are strong with starting wrs and qb and TE. Our defense was vastly over rated last year and we saw what happened when we played teams that knew how to beat a 3-4 defense.

BTW isn't this a discussion and that means look at something both ways not just one way like this thread is.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
I could almost guarantee that if Ted Thompson was offered the 1st 3 rounds of picks by the Rams just for Rodgers he would jump on it in a heartbeat.

I would have traded Favre if that would have came up also. I'm thinking a GM would be out of his mind not to do it when you have some major holes on your team.

I would love to know what some actual sports writers and experts would say about it instead of alot of homers. At this rate I see us being the Chargers of the 80's with Dan Fouts with having alot of yards but no championships to go with it.
Or you mean like the 2000s Packers

LOL.. most of my rant was in humor.. or an attempt anyway...

Of course we should be objective about our team.. so lets explore your list.

Oline.. not arguing.. I stated that several times up to and though last season.. having Mark and Chad from day one will help but we are still short handed overall.

Another OLB... people seem to forget that Matthews and Jones were rookies.. Matthews performed well past expectations.. and Jones held his own.. while I agree that we need to beef up the depth and competition there.. it isn't like we are bare either.. don't sleep on Obiozor either...

CB are weak?... without Harris we still have a strong pair.. Williams and Woodson... Harris is an insurance policy.. Underwood will improve.. book it. The rest are a collection of IR reports and what ifs... so I give you depth as a issue... proven depth.

S... Look at my posts.. I think a Safety to pair with Collins is of the utmost importance.. but if we fail to land an impact player in the draft, I think we can win with Bigby there for the greater part.. but if we truly want to become a great defense... no doubt we need a safety that can communicate effectively and has a high football IQ.. something we have been lacking in our safeties..

But really look at that list.. there isn't a team in football that doesn't have a comparable list.. Especially in April... we have the draft and then filling in holes through the summer..

If we were the Lions, a team that genuinely has 'holes' it might begin to make sense to trade a QB like Rodgers.

But for all the talk the Pack don't have many holes. We have a lack of depth at a couple of positions (OT, DB, LOLB) but we we have serviceable players for each of those positions.

Some teams need the draft to provide Day 1 starters at vital positions, we need upgrades in certain areas and future starters who will most likely sit for a year.

They might feel like 'needs' to us but they are not glaring needs compared to the vast majority of the league.

Great minds think alike. Kind of like J Edgar Hoover and Clyde Tolson.

Just for fun... And I am curious about the answers that will come forward here....

In a fun way of asking a question in a different manner (Instead of what is the value of Aaron Rodgers.) here is the question...

If the Rams offered their First, Second, and Third picks in this years draft plus K. Bollor would you take the trade?

The QB is the most important position in the NFL. You do NOT give up an elite QB, especially if they're young. Rodgers is young.

NO WAY! Ted Thompson would give up Rodgers for the 1-3 picks. #1 - Rodgers is his boy, his first and most important impact on the team. #2 - If Ditka would give up an entire draft + future 1st for sticky ricky, no way Ted Thompson (who is intelligent contrary to the belief of some) gives up anything less for arguably the best 2nd year starter QB in the history of the NFL.

Yeah the thought that a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd would do the job is just ridiculous, lets be honest here, you dont trade young, pro-bowl franchise QBs... EVER, When has it happened? Its impossible to tell how high the market is, but it is high enough that it has *never freaking happened* in the history of the league. If the cost of a pro-bowl QB going into his prime was this, every other year a QB starved team would make this trade.

Who cares if its the 1st overall pick? You're taking an unproven player and giving him a higher Salary than your young pro-bowl QB, there is not a single GM in the league who would take this deal.

I'll take your five 1st rounders and add 5 more.

Rodgers (barring injury) is golden for at least 10 years.

Odds are we would be lucky to get someone that good in 1 out of ten tries.

Love the bird in hand..... screw the bush.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
