you wouldn't mind trading a 1st overall and a future first for a servicable backup?

I was more thinking a 2nd-round pick this year and maybe a 3rd- or 4th-round pick next year. 😛

First off about the 4 or 5 starters and how we get them last time I checked we still had our 23rd pick and our 2nd so now thats 4 picks in the first 46.

Even at #1 we could take Suh and then at 23 we select Mays and with the 1st pick in the 2nd we take Clausen or McCoy and with our 2nd we select a CB or an OT.

Build up our defense and then as history has shown our QB doesnt have to be a superstar right away.

I'm just being objective here with the so called very deep draft this would be the time to do it.

How you gonna pay all those guys? Even if there was a rookie pay scale, I still wouldn't make the trade.

Aaron Rodgers may be the best NFL quarterback in history to have fans openly (and dispassionately!) speculating about his value on the trade market while he is performing at a high level and before he has shown the slightest hint of character flaws on or off the field. It's quite remarkable.

There is no one on this site that is MORE of a fan of Rodgers than I. There may be people as much, but not more.

I started this thread because it is the off season, and I wanted to provoke some interesting reading from the many members here who have a great deal to say, and say it well.

Forgive me for the "Remarkable" you mention.

I wasn't deprecating the thread. I was merely commenting on how remarkable such a discussion is. I don't know whether it's a testament to the levelheadedness of many Packers fans that we're able to discuss such a topic (for the most part) objectively -- or a sad commentary on how Rodgers can never seem to catch a break when it comes to mustering public opinion.

I have to think such a thread would have been unthinkable at this point in the Favre era. But again, I don't know whether that's a commentary on the fairness of Packers fans in giving Favre a chance -- or their irrationality in idolizing him beyond all bounds of reason.

This thread is intriguing. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

I'd make the H Walker trade look like a bargain.

2011/12/13 - 1st round draft choice

2011 - Second round draft choice

2011 - third round draft choice

A minimum of two pro bowlers (They can have Bush/Poppinga)

2014 Conditional pick - 1st if they make the playoffs, 2nd if they have a winning/neutral record and don't.

2015 Conditional pick - 1st if they make the playoffs, 2nd if they have a winning/neutral record and don't.

All virgin women related to trading franchise will now be Packer property.

Their soul.

Peyton Manning is an intriguing prospect, as he's averaged over 4000 yards and nearly 30 touchdowns every season since he came in the league; however, he's in his mid-30s, and it's questionable how much longer he can maintain his level of performance. Moreover, his statistics over the past two seasons have been uncannily similar to Rodgers', having thrown for 30 more total passing yards and 2 more passing touchdowns than Rodgers. Add in Rodgers' 9 rushing TDs, though, and he actually exceeds Manning's scoring output by 35 points.

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

That's amazing, isn't it? Peyton Manning will own every major QB record when he retires, assuming Brent doesn't play 5 more years, and our 26 year old QB is right there with him, seasonal-stats-wise. Not to mention that he's already ranking right up there with the best of Faver's years. That's not easy to do.

I stick to my original offer- Rodgers for 5 first rounders.

Think about it your giving up a very good qb but he can be replaced and majorly improve your team. Think of it we would have what 4 picks in the first 46? Also you package the 3rd and our 4th and get back into the 2nd round. You basically could get 5 starters for one player. Now anyone that wouldn't be willing to do that I think would be foolish.

"dhazer" wrote:

You're assuming facts not in evidence. You can't just replace a Pro Bowl QB, nor can you replace a leader of the team and a fan favorite. Trading Aaron Rodgers at this point would be an extremely self destructive move by the Packers.

I could almost guarantee that if Ted Thompson was offered the 1st 3 rounds of picks by the Rams just for Rodgers he would jump on it in a heartbeat.

I would have traded Favre if that would have came up also. I'm thinking a GM would be out of his mind not to do it when you have some major holes on your team.

I would love to know what some actual sports writers and experts would say about it instead of alot of homers. At this rate I see us being the Chargers of the 80's with Dan Fouts with having alot of yards but no championships to go with it.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Alright you negative little piss ant... lol... list off these major holes on this team?

There is objective posting.. and there is the over the top nonsense like this..

We have one major flaw on this team.. depth on the offensive line.. beyond that start digging.

Never wanted to use my size 13 wooden foot so bad to wedge up someones negative ass.. lol.

Oh this isn't the roast Hazer thread.. nevermind the taunts.. lol... still would like the hole listing request filled.... ya loveable knucklehead. 😉

I'd love to hear from Vikesrule and Formo on this one. They're not sportswriters, but you can't exactly call them homers. I could post this thing on PP.O and I'm pretty sure that they would call it a bad trade from our side.
