I am absolutely crushed now.
I went to a meeting that I thought was scheduled for tonight only to find out that it is NEXT THURSDAY EVENING.

It was bad enough that I am going to lose Saturday morning to a different meeting and then the afternoon to a 80 year old's birthday party. But to lose the first round is unbelievable.

What REALLY stinks is, in the past 15 months, there is usually 1 maybe two issues on the table and we are done in a half hour maybe a full hour if we really stretch it out. Next Thursday there will be 7 issues on the agenda and the last one is a fight between two municipalities over a couple of tracks of land. A bunch of the people from the area in question will want to testify and this thing will drag on about as long as the first round. Boy does this tick me off. But hey, I will make a whole $40 for serving on behalf of the county taxpayers. :physassult:
I quit.

hey maybe Ted will trade down this year and you won't really miss anything

nice. He will have to trade up all those 4-7 picks as well. Maybe he can get 5-6 2nd and 3rd round picks. I like it. :tongue3:

Pfft. That's nothing.

At least you didn't mistake your parents' anniversary celebration for being a day later than it actually was.

You got away only being dejected. Poor AADP on the other hand went dressed up, mingled with people at the dining hall I swore I had never ever seen before, eventually asking the waitress where the guests of the hour Mr. X and Ms. Y (my parents) were, only to be told "Sir, their party was yesterday."

I have never been so humiliated and embarrassed, ever.

Actually was en-route to Toronto the day before, so no means of communicating directly with them. Ever since that day, got myself a cell-phone. And a day-planner. Dishing out money to get a monthly plan seemed a lot more worthwhile after that. And dad getting pretty mad at my lack of organization was a pretty good motivator too.

It really was very moronic. When family friends and extended family found out, that was the worst. Repeatedly hearing "and YOU want to get into Harvard Law?" got old real fast. Having one incident (albeit, pretty stupid one) define your character is the worst.

I once went to a church fundraiser one night after coming home and discovering the announcement on my table. Hurried through supper, etc. Dashed up even though I knew I'd be a bit late.

Only to discover the church locked.

Came home and discovered ... that it was an announcement from the prior year.

As long my schedule holds up, I'll be blogging all three days on just about every single pick so in away the new format will benefit me. I did it last year and it was kinda tiring so the break between picks is welcomed, but there is just something about draft day weekend. Get up and get a early breakfast and before you know it, your team is on the clock. Draft day Thursday and Friday evening is just stupid.

Sorry P_F, you're gonna have to clarify what exactly dicktiger is. I highly doubt it's implies a literal meaning (AADP has hopelessly dirty mind :face1: )

Apparently he thinks he can box... interesting gent to nab the name from though. Knocked down "The Hurricane" a couple times. ;)

It's probably the manliest name I've ever heard, the boxer Dick Tiger. He was a great boxer in his time. As to why I'm him, I sometimes switch my name in the game day chat to dicktiger, just to mess with Zero (because he dislikes people changing their names in the chat.

I just can't believe my feak'n luck.
First I lose Th nite to a stupid board meeting.
THEN I lose Saturday to a birthday party for an 80 year old. (Granted I have called him "Paw" and he calls me "Son" for about 20 years but that is not the point.

NOW
I just lost Friday nite to my son's GF. She is in a play in Chicago.
:signarg:
I can't believe I lost the whole darn draft in less than 2 weeks time.
My son use to (and still does) use words he picked up while in the Army at times like this. I need to borrow some of my son's "Army words" but I just can't. :cussing: :microwave:

It is easy to read about the picks afterward. It is a lot of fun to do the instant chat while we wait for the selection and then to bemoan the picks after.
