The three mock drafts that I looked at had Bulaga being taken at #5, #5, and #6, and that was a day before the draft. I had heard he was falling in some teams' eyes, though, and when I went back and looked at a Mel Kiper video, he mentioned Bulaga as a possible pick for the Packers at #23. So score one for Mel, I guess.
It's a mystery to me when some of these players fall at the last minute. The same thing happened to Aaron Rodgers. Almost everyone loved him and then all of sudden, at the same time, almost everyone decided that he wasn't very good. The knock on Bulaga is that he had some bad games in his senior season, after missing three games with an illness, but everybody knew that all along anyway.
I hope he can play left tackle so they can put Lang on the right side and we'll be set at OT for another ten years. But a lot of people project Bulaga as an RT in the NFL. The big question will be whether he can play on the left side. He's not considered to be an elite athlete. More of a workhorse with good technique. Not a lot of quickness in the feet.
If they put him on the left side, he'll get torched by Clay Matthews on the first day of training camp. Then we'll see how he responds to that.
