Did Crabtree ever sign with SF or can we draft him this year if he is re-doing the draft like he was wanting to do?

Yes.. Crabtree signed and had a decent impact for coming in so late...

However, mark me down for another drama filled pick like that for us this season.. someone highly touted sliding to us, so we can pass on him.

Hazer might blow the other nut in that case.. pure golden entertainment. 😉

There aren't any veteran free agents better than Clifton or Tauscher. That's the state of the NFL now because of the uncapped season.

Unlikely, New Orleans parts ways with one of their two left tackles.

1. They need depth

2. They can tender Brown at the highest level and nobody will pay a first or third for him. Although, I'd consider a 2nd for him.

This idea that GB can find a free agent to play tackle this year is just slim to none based on who is out there. Maybe I missed someone or overlooked someone, but I don't see it.

The Packers best answer to their tackle woes will come via the draft. I would possibly look at T.J. Lang as a solution at right tackle.

I'd resign Tauscher and Clifton to incentive laden contracts. I'd have Tauscher compete with Lang and possibly a 2nd or 3rd round choice at RT.

I'd have Clifton compete with a first-rounder at LT. I think someone is going to drop between Campbell, Davis, and Buluga. This draft is too good at other positions for a run on tackles to dominate the top half of the NFL draft.

Besides if all the tackles are gone, that leaves some very good potential pass rushers on the board or a player like C.J. Spiller.

I think Green Bay has the interior guys in Spitz, Wells, and Sitton. Colledge could stick around as a backup.

Something that should make everyone a little nervous.

Eugene Amano, 25 friggin' million, 5 years. Like 12 mil this year or something.

Edit-his friggin' contract details

Look at this....

Like I said, we are going to be PISSED at what these guys get when we go to re-sign them, and I saw it coming, which is why I repeatedly defend those GD ticket prices when it seems so weird to do so, along with flipping out every time one of these guys gets his contract/payday/pro-bowl selection, etc.

Friggin' Colledge and his contract are going to cause me to have an embolism, I swear...I can almost see it.

If Colledge gets that kind of money.. there better be a provision in the contract that he owes us half a mil every time he fires out of his stance to friggin' high... we will recapture that change and then some within a game or two... lol.

Another thing that might make one nervous is I was reading a post on Ben Maler that said Washington might make a move on Clifton. There's no telling what that idiot would be willing to offer if he decided to go after him.

People are discounting how good Lang is at already.. that is fine.. I rest on what I have seen out of the kid to date.. and think he might not be a franchise left tackle.. but he could man the position just fine.

I actually like Lang a lot, too. I'm not quite as confident re: him playing LT as you are, but I won't be at all surprised if he's starting opening day somewhere on the line.

I'm still arguing for the "overkill" approach, though: IMO there are only four players who have demonstrably shown themselves as worthy of a roster space on a the squad: Sitton (as a starter); Wells (as a backup, possibly starter); maybe Tauscher (as a backup); and Lang. All the rest, IMO, need to prove that they are worthy in 2010 of a spot.

Now, I won't be surprised if some of the others stick (especially, e.g., Clifton), but I would hope that whoever ends up on the roster, both as starters and as backups, are going to do better than all those others did last year.

Lang is, in my opinion, the *only* player on last year's roster who should get a position this year based in part on "potential". The others only get a spot because they have performed at a sufficiently high level last year (Sitton, maybe Wells, maybe maybe Tauscher) in training camp and in preseason games better than the alternatives.

And I want enough bodies and alternatives in camp so that the only way the Colledges and Spitzes et al make the roster is because they have a kick-ass, take-no-prisoner's camp. Not just because they suck less than the alternatives.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
