My question about Nick Collins is does he have the intelligence necessary to elevate his game to the elite level. From what I've watched, the answer would be no, but then I don't get to see the whole field from the TV angles.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now: he has extroadinary athleticism but lacks football intlligence.

The Packers need smart players in their secondary, a major upgrade forthcoming.

I have seen absolutely nothing out of Collins that shows he lacks football intelligence. He was responsible for secondary calls on defense this year after learning the complicated and entirely new scheme. I do believe that the team has been top 2 in the NFL in INT's in both of the last 2 seasons. Maybe you are seeing something different though from "what you've watched"

Go ahead and pay Escalade prices for a Suburban Zero, and do it quickly, so we can all sleep. Those are the kind of moves of the Sherminator. Remember him, Mr. Cap Hell.

Fuck that, take our time and do it right. Collins will be taken care of.

I really don't understand where you're coming from. I'm trying to relate your post with mine and it's not happening. Why? Because no where did I say to over pay for him. I surely didn't imply it either. I feel, as I've felt about Nick, is that he deserves a contract that rewards him for his play and importance to the team. I did not say break the bank, I did not say to make him a top five paid safety, I said nothing of the sort, so how about you calm your ass down and stop being a prick, k pumpkin, thx.

Edit, lol @ fuck that, take our time and do it right comment... that's cute. You have no damn clue at all on how I believe things should be done with a contract. That last line makes me think you feel I want us to rush through things. Wow, how many times have I said it's best to take your time, do it right the first time and move forward? Unreal. Un-trucking-real.

I'm hoping some of those Ted Thompson comments are him playing the "never reveal your real plans, maximize the misinformation you create" approach of Ron Wolf.

Ok, I know Foster has posted statistics that Tauscher was below where we would want our starting RT to be. But the notion that Clifton is priority #2 whereas Tauscher might be left out in the cold just seems silly. I mean the line looked like crap, and Clifton in particular looked like crap, until Tauscher got in game shape. Yes Clifton is a LT, but at this point he offers even less than Tauscher does. This makes no sense.

And the notion that Breno, who couldn't even make the active roster when we were starting that sieve of a line with Barbre et al, is a big part of his plans for next year. ARGH!!!!!!!!!

It better be misinformation, Ted, or PH is going to hear a lot of ranting from this member in the months ahead.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I have only one disagreement, but it's kind of a big one. I advocate the re-signing (if possible) of both Cliffy and Tausch, btw...

Your "Yes Clifton is a LT, but"

Too dismissive, imo

Does he offer less than Tausch? As a player, yes.

As a player that can function at his position? Yes, he is less than Tausch.

As a player that can play good enough at his CRITICAL position? hmmmm

Hopefully. The options suck if he can't-presently, imo

I would certainly trust a Lang at RT before LT at this juncture...

So my beef is this... It makes more than 50% sense.

Not a TON of sense, but more than "no sense."

I don't have a problem with signing Clifton.

I wouldn't even have a problem with Clifton being somewhat more important than Tausch.

I do have a problem with putting Clifton as #2 priority and Tausch way down the list.

And the notion, re: Breno, that Thompson hasn't learned his lesson about putting too many eggs in the "potential" basket. That scares the crap out of me.

I want Thompson to recognize that we want an OL where the current Tausch and Clifton levels is what we want in backups.

"OL. Dominant OL. Best goddamn OL in the NFL." Repeat until season starts.

Settle down Susie, to be perfectly honest, I don't recall your stand on free agents because I don't dedicate my life to memorizing everyone's point of view in this forum. I try to avoid yours because one day you're chewing Favre an ass and the next you stick up for him (I don't know how to read you). I read your earlier post as opposition to my point of view. Sorry if you got upset. If we give Collins everything his agent asks for, I am going to be upset because I find major flaws in his game.

I think we can all agree on one thing.

Ted had to be completely bullshitting on the Breno thing.

Put me in the camp that wants Clifton replaced, but I also recognize that until we have a viable starter, we have to resign him, and live with dogshit run blocking on the left side.

I want to be able to run the ball whenever we want, even against the Vikings. We have the offensive talent to win shoot outs, but why do that when you can win controling time of possession.

I will say one more thing that has me more than a little nervous about those comments.

[TT-hating Favre fiasco devotees, kindly hide your eyes at this point]

Ted don't say much, but when he does, he don't bullshit. I would really like some of those comments to in fact be bullshit, and this is ---again---making me nervous, real nervous.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
