I disagree Formo, I think they wanted Brett to at least tie Rodgers' 4 TDs, which up till that point Brett never accomplished in a post season game 😛.

However, I really don't see why a justification needs to be made. The Vikings can do what they damn well please on offense as long as it remains within the rules. If the Cowboys weren't even playing for pride, then screw 'em. Let em come back HARD against the Vikings the next time they play and try and enact revenge for this slight. But until that happens, you play the game, and if you can't stop em, then that's not their problem.

I watched that close and zoomed in. It looks bad from a distance but when zooming in and looking close. He wasn't on his neck. There was something with the hands of both I could not make out. But he was not elbowing his throat.

The elbow on the neck thing I think is blown out of preportion. But, holding a guy down for 6 seconds after the whistle?

Hey, I don't blame Brooking for being passionate. He was pissed off at the outcome of the game, and I'm sure he was venting a bit to Berrian when he had him pinned down like that. The TD pass the next play was what put him over the edge, I'd imagine.

BTW, I love the killer instinct. That TD wasn't ment for the Cowboys.. It was a message to the Saints. I've heard a few players mention that, along with Chilly.

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

Don't buy the sending a message to the Saints. If they have come out and said anything like that, it is because it is the party line. That score was entirely about sticking it to the Boys because they felt insulted by the media.

It was completely a childish thing to do IMO. I would expect more from my kids, and I would expect more from my team. The they are professional excuse is just that, a week excuse.

I think Brooking should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for crying like a bitch afterward. Again, retire and join the Girl Scouts.

Broookings, no class. Walk you beaten ass back to your sideline.

Vikings. No class. There is no reason to run that play. Kick the FG, then kick the ball off.

I teach my kids to win and lose with class. Neither of these are an example of what I would expect them to do.

I've never understood the FG thing. Isn't it more of an insult to add easy points to the scoreboard? It was 27-3 at that point, I am not sure but I always thought the "code" said you don't kick an easy FG and add points to the scoreboard. Instead you go for it and at least give them a chance to stop you.

Otherwise its an easy 27 yard field goal. This way you gave them a chance to stop them and get the ball. I'm pretty sure if they had kick the FG, people would have criticized them for adding easy points.

Why didn't Dallas just take knees and end the game or not use their timeouts if htey thought the game was over?

And I quote a fella from the community 'NFLFans' on LiveJournal.. BTW, he's NOT a Viking fan.

The thing is, it used to be seen as un-classy to kneel down at the end of the game. "You're supposed to be a sportsman and keep doing running plays to run down the clock. Only assholes smother the ball the last two minutes."

Until fucking Pisarcik in 1978, and everyone said "OH WAIT, we can LOSE being classy? Well, fuck that!" And nowadays, nobody questions the victory formation.

It's all about winning, folks. If you like sportsmanship more than you like winning, there are plenty other sports leagues for you out there.

I agree with that guy Formo found.

I suggest Brooking pick up the game "golf." You get to wear stupid looking pants, then you get to hit a ball into a hole. When you hit the ball in the hole, everyone claps. You even get some chum to follow you around with your clubs.

Plus, when your opponent gets a high score, you're happy.

I don't think you run the score up on division opponents for obvious retalitory reasons. I think if you do choose to run up the score, then you should be prepared to answer questions about it.

Brookings is a proud veteran player, and I think their defense played pretty well through three quarters. It's not their fault their offense kept stepping on their own dicks and Tony Romo is a choke artist bitch.

Jerry Jones said some disparaging against Minnesota early in the year about being welfare bitches, so I really don't feel too sorry for the Cows. I understand Brookings frustration, but probably what is best is to keep your mouth shut and seek revenge the next year.

When has a defense every given up trying to save time to get the ball back when down. Never. How often does an offense not try to score when ahead. Just about every time. If you don't know or can't admit that you are just fooling yourself. Besides Dallas used up their timeouts with 6 minutes left. this was at the 2 min warning.

As for the FG. Here is what I see. The offense has every right to run things as normal. Run, pass or what ever as long as it is a normal event. If you call plays as normal and score, no problem. As said it is the defenses job to stop them. That is why the FG is the right call. Two other times MN had the ball 4th down inside the 15 and both of them they kicked the FG? Why not this time. For the sole purpose of rubbing their nose in it.

That is they problem I have, and why I think it was classless. All the excuses don't change that it was low class.

I like what Brooking did. You can bet he said what just about every other player on the Dallas roster wanted to say, but didn't have the stones to say it. Somebody has to say something and take the heat and he was the guy to do so. Had Bill Belichick and Tom Brady did this, the media would be much more hostile towards the Vikes. I liked what Reggie White said too when the Cowboys went for that late field goal as well. I thought that was clearly running it up, as was this.

I don't think this was about sending a message to the Saints or running up the score on the Cowboys. I think it was about making sure Brett Favre did something as a Viking that he never did as a Packer. They had a chance to take a shot and they took it.
