thats why a trade for a RFA is the most viable option.

Charlie Johnson from Indy. Brown from New Orleans, though i don't know if he's restricted (he is good though) and he was on IR this season. Zach Strief from NO. Barnes from Oakland. Marcus Mcneill from San Diego. Barron from St. Louis. Penn from Tampa.

I think the most viable options are obviously Penn and Barron. I wouldn't be upset with Khalif Barnes. And I think New Orleans is going to get rid of one of their guys. I'd be happy with either.

Note that the Saints also have Jermon Bushrod, so I'd be looking at (as I said, I already am) very closely at that Brown/Strief possibility, or possibly a trade for Bushrod (his contract expires next year)

I really think we have to hang on to Chad-- I just don't want to see taking a shot with other options without also having that option available.

On the subject of Giacomini, one of the few things he's done was lead the race for RT last offseason. He was beating out Barbre through OTAs and TC before he picked up an ankle sprain and the coaches gave the job to Barbre in an attempt to get some early cohesion to the line.

Beating out Barbre may not be difficult but it suggests he showed something.

Also, the fact we kept him on the 53 is a big sign the coaches value him. Considering we had to cut players like Tyrell Sutton and Meredith one assumes the people who know him best like him enough to keep him on board at others' expense.

Here are a couple of intersting remarks posted on Kffl. Looks like Wells performed well enough to solidify his starting position.

College on the other hand may be in trouble.

Packers | Spitz could be in mix for LG next season

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers OG Jason Spitz likely will not regain the starting center position but could be a factor for the starting left guard position.

I have always preferred Wells at center and Spitz at LG. This would make me happy.

Put the best line together.

If that is spitz at LG and Wells at C fine. I don't think that would be best though. Wells gives up to much in weight these days. Give me a beast at LG so Spitz is free to play C.

I think the solution at LG is Lang. I know that doesn't fix the T position but the way I look at it G is Lang's best chance at being a great player and helping the OL the most.

I would bring Tauscher back because I don't think he will be prohibitive cost wise and he showed he can get it done and then figure out how to deal with LT.

Lang, Spitz/Wells, Sitton, and Tauscher would be a great start in putting out a quality OL right out of the blocks next year. Either a 1st round pick or FA at LT. I would keep Wells because they could move Spitz to either G spot with an injury, or, move him to G if they needed Lang to move outside.

This would be building off of the model the Saints and Dallas have in bulking up the interior of the OL with big, strong guys, but with the ability to pull at times too.

wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
