George Will thinks they are full of shit

Enjoy, Allen!

Wow....just wow.
Here's a part of what was said there:
" Governments' attempts to manipulate Earth's temperature now comprise one of the world's largest industries. Tens of billions of dollars are being dispensed, as by the U.S. Energy Department, which has suddenly become, in effect, a huge venture capital operation, speculating in green technologies. Political, commercial, academic and journalistic prestige and advancement can be contingent on not disrupting the (postulated) consensus that is propelling the gigantic and fabulously lucrative industry of combating global warming."

That shows one HUGE reason why this garbage science bothers me. I thank God i don't have any kids. Because the next several generations will be paying through the nose for the "planet saving" lie.
It's all about the money.
And Obama promising things about it that are impossible. But heck, who will remember his speech or even care in 2050? He can make up any number he wants in the future, and how can anyone prove him wrong?
I'm sure i'll be LONG dead by then, and Obama will be what, in his 80's or 90's if he's still alive?

Cheesey - I'm pretty much to the Right of every single person on this forum. So far from a liberal, needless to say.

I also hate Al Gore more than anyone else on this forum. His wife is the person who got me into politics in the first place.

I still believe in global warming. No, it's not 100% conclusive but NOTHING is 100% conclusive except for simple mathematics. That's just something scientists have to deal with.

Very simply, the average global temperatures near the surface are increasing and have been increasing since the middle of last century. How much is caused by man and how much is caused by natural causes? That's the debate. What is also up for debate is how much damage global warming would cause.

Now, why does this cause so much discomfort for some people?

David....the reason i get so upset at this kind of garbage is that millions upon millions of dollars are being spent to "combat" this non existant thing. They use it to get people to donate their hard earned money, they use it as an excuse to raise your taxes. And in fact there is nothing that mankind can do to regulate the temperature of the earth.
So the current trend is that the temperature is going up a little. The earth has ALWAYS gone through temperature phases. Sometimes a little warmer, sometimes a little colder.
But the normal temp swing is being used to control and scare people. Is that the right thing to do?
I used AL Gore because he has been one of the main caractures running around with "The sky is falling!" attitude. Making films, "preaching" about it. It has nothing to do with his political standing.
I respected president Kennedy. He was a Democrat. I choose who i vote for based on what they stand for, not DEm or Rep. If Joe Liebermann would have run, i would have voted for him.
Yes, it's true the "liberal" side is the one spreading this whole global warming scare, and so far i have'nt seen any conservatives saying it's true.

I'm against the money making scheme and the brain washing of our children.
Does that make me a bad guy?

Al, have you seen Gore's "inconvenient truth"? He has been of this thought since he was in college. and the science behind what he is saying is pretty factual. Also, what is you opinion about the iceberg that is floating toward new zealand? It is bigger than the size of Manahtten. I wouldn't just poo poo the whole thing. If Gore is even half right, our children and grandkids are in for some serious issues. You comments are similar to saying that our deficit is no big deal. We have had them before and will have them again.

I wonder where all these 'reports' come from. Because I've been hearing from a few people that the Earth's average temperature has been on the DECLINE in I believe, the last ten years.

Whether these reports are bogus or not... The fluid 'fact' of global warming is not what Cheesey and I are mad about.

We are mad about the Government using it as a way to put regulations on our freedoms and to make money.

Don't worry, Cheesey, while the gnome is on to something there, in this instance he is merely conducting a personal attack. The article linked stands on it's merits. Can you detect (as I do) that it was never read ?

You'll have that in these kinds of debates. It's the kind of thing that gets unqualified people elected.

And, again I say..

The Earth has lasted LONG before us humans appeared. In the grand scheme of things, we are merely a tiny grain of sand on the beaches of existence. Whatever WE do to the Earth.. No matter what.. It will still survive.
