This story is going to get bigger, not smaller, imo.

It will not just be the fans of the Green Bay Packers pitching a fit.

Just watch. ESPN is going to be on this...opposing teams, etc.

Five faxes, my phone call... that shit is irrelevant. My "theory" remains that Mike McCarthy bitched about it, the guy's boss over-reacted, and shit-canned the guy.

One other is that one of the guy's co-workers told the guy's boss what he said and the guy's boss shit-canned him.

The important thing is that this one will not go away based on what Mike McCarthy said. This much I know.

He is such an incredible fuck up when it comes to responding to a reporter, regardless of the truth of this matter. This thread is absolutely perfectly titled. This has NOTHING to do with him as a coach...for me...personally...

I am standing by my "end of this season" for Mike McCarthy.

Unless this is true.

(Your reaction to the story about the firing of Mike Wood?)

I'd like to address it. I was made aware of it this morning on my radio show, or radio I do in Milwaukee. I was taken aback by it, naturally. But...You know, I walk through that loading dock every day. Had a conversation, a comment was made, I commented back, got in the car, had a chance to inquire to (fields manager) Allen (Johnson) about what the man's name was. And that's my involvement.

you heard him say "dont lay an egg": He made a comment to me, I made a comment to him.

Did you ask for him to be fired: Absolutely not.

Did you recommend that he be fired: It was a one-minute conversation.

What did he say: It's not the worst thing I've ever heard.

Did you play a part in the decision: It's not my responsibility.

What did you say to him: he made a comment, I made a comment back to him.

And he is STILL PARSING HIS WORDS.

Did you ask for him to be fired?

Answer: "Absolutely not."

Good answer.

Did you recommend that he be fired?

Answer: "It was a one-minute conversation."

Bad answer. A classic Mike McCarthy answer. He had his warning shots across the bow. No one can tell me that he is not fully briefed on the outrage that this story is generating.

He is either obfuscating or just that fucking stupid.

How about, for example...

Did you recommend that he be fired?

Answer: "Absolutely not."

See how easy that is Mike?

This smells bad.

Now look at the rest.

Did you play a part in the decision?

Answer: "It's not my responsibility."

Bad answer, again, especially in the context of the previous bad answer.

How about, for example...

Did you play a part in the decision?

Answer: "Absolutely not."

See how easy that is Mike?

This guy should be re-instated IMMEDIATELY.

How about the little "I wouldn't say it to a fellow employee"?

Wazzat, mike? You're just another employee complaining about another employee?

Unfortunately this happens in majhor corporations a lot. So let's put it into perspective.

Janitor is cleaning the assdump at Apple. Steve jobs walks in right before presenting the newest ip[hone gadget at the Electronics show.

Janitor: Hey Steve.

Job's gives him a quizical look. (who is this to call me by my first name)

Janitor: HAve fun on stage and don't screw it up! (make sure not to lay an egg)

Jobs laughs it off and once with his colleagues makes mention of it.

Pee-on #24 hears the Job's comment . Fires Janitor.

You don't say shit like that to the CEO of ANY large company. period.

that being said, let me say this. Wood may or may not have said it. A coworker may or may not of said it. MacCarthy may or may not have heard correctly.

Point is, you must be carefull what you say to the powers to be. Not that the powers to be are going to fire you, but the underlying management who fears the CEO might.

True story. Steve jobs arrived at Apple one day and a fed ex truck was in the driveway. Jobs parked near the truck. When the truck left it bumped jobs car. He called Fed Ex and had the guy fired.

Moral: Don't screw with those that have power over you.

OK.

So now we shall endure another firestorm of national embarrassment, courtesy of our head coach --- and in no small measure the sad incompetence of Demosky whateverhisname is at the GBP Gazette.

Hey Rob...

When he gives you one of his off the friggin' wall goofy assed non-answers to a question, here is a journalism tip for you...

Ask the fucking question again. Explain to the person that you are interviewing that his answer just might be important here, and that the ambiguity being created is not a good thing.

This is not hard, either.

Somebody Twitter the twit, (Rob) will ya? Dhaze--- Ask Rob to ask him again.

If not, someone from the national media will be interviewing Mike (momentarily) in a booth somewhere discussing his rapid ouster as head coach of the Packers.

Never mind, lol

Everything points to a petty little retaliation by MM. This may or may not pass, but I can guarantee that someone from that grounds crew is going to spill the beans on what was said. I still can't for the life of me figure out what would be so heinous as to warrant a termination.

He has been afforded the opportunity to unscrew this by simply putting the guy back on the payroll. Do we really need this story this week?

Bedard:

Still don't know what the exact comment was, but safe to say it was something that was disrespectful to say to the head coach.

McCarthy was shocked to hear the guy got fired. Knowing McCarthy, he likely wanted the guy's name so he could approach/talk to him.

Fields manager Allen Johnson and general manager Ted Thompson spoke to Mike Wood on day of termination.

Well it better have been something pretty disrespectful or offensive.... otherwise MM better grow a little thicker skin than [strike]to fire[/strike] report someone over a petty comment.

They better release the comment and full details of this before it grows any further.. this proud franchise doesn't need this type of petty tom foolery.. if the facts warrant the termination.. clear the franchise.. or continue to take these types of lumps and dull up that once ultra polished shine that has been a part of the Packers tradition.

Sorry... 22 years of employment speaks volumes, so does releasing him on a comment.
