I actually don't think he's that bad either. I just think he's too stubborn in the playcalling for his own good. It might be admirable (in a weird Quixotic sense) that he is so intent on imposing the system he believes in, but it's blowing up in his face and imperiling his job. I think he should pass off playcalling duties to someone else who is in better touch with the idiosyncrasies of the players and focus on overall oversight of the team. I think that might be his strength.

Either that or (heaven forfend) he needs to trade away Aaron Rodgers for a quarterback who better fits his system.

I think the HC's biggest problem is this. He over thinks himself, ultimately out thinking his self.

I also think he's either unable or unwilling to impose a sense of discipline, which is problematic with a young team. I'm also becoming suspicious of his ability to get them up mentally for games.

Perhaps I'll feel more charitable later in the week, but at the moment he's lost me.

The first one he cearly didn't see the corner. It's their base coverage on that particular play and I think the other two I would consider them contested. I didn't see the one with Greg. I don't know if he got his hands on it or whatever. And the one to Donald here late was a little high. He has the one minus decision.

I'm going to blow a freaking gasket. I swear. I am. Another time he says he didn't see a play when asked about it by the media.

Stop doing crosswords and watch the fucking game.

Ted Thompson has close ties with both Gruden and Mooch. I know Favre doesn't get along with Thompson, but that doesn't mean Mooch and Gruden would pass up an oppurtunity or Thompson would pass up an oppurtunity either. Thompson did attend Mooch's mom's funeral I believe with Favre go figure. Of course, Favre was a Packer at that time, but I don't think Thompson is as ego crazy as people think. He has a an autograph picture of Favre and Dorsey Levens in his office. An egomaniac rips that apart.

You have to remember that the people who are involved in the business side of football, like Thompson, don't get caught up in everything like the fans and sometimes players do. They're there to keep their jobs and win.

Now as far as Thompson goes. I think he's average which means I could live with another year because I like some of the young talent on this team, but I wouldn't shed any tears if he was let go either. If letting him go means landing a Holmgren/Mooch or Holmgren/Gruden or even a Reggie McKenzie/Gruden or Mooch combo, I say go for it.

As far as new blood goes. Leslie Frazier was mentioned. I think he'd be on my shortlist. Gregg Williams will also be on quite a few shortlists too Mike Mularkey in Atlanta will be a head coach again someday too.

If I were Murphy I would mandate to Thompson that he use any and all means to shore up the main areas of concern - OL and safety. As in "Ted, we all know your preference is not to get too much into free agency, but if you expect to keep your job you'll get the pieces in place, even if that means getting way into free agency. Got it?"

I'm not clear on Ted's authority when it comes to the hiring or firing of coaches, other than McCarthy - I thought I'd read here that those were Mike's call. Lord knows he's dropped the ball when it comes to proper talent level on the offensive line, but I can't yet pin the coaching-related woes on him. So his seat should be warm, certainly, but I would be okay with him getting another year with - again- a clear mandate that he get good pieces in place on that line, by hook or by crook.

If they're going to fire Mike, I don't want another flavor-of-the-month assistant - Williams hasn't done well as a HC, to my recollection. I would vastly prefer Gruden or Mooch - the 'F Connection' is crap, I agree there. He's not making his decisions based on that. Both would come in with proven versions of the WCO, which would help keep the transition for guys like Rodgers to a minimum. My preference is Gruden, just based on a perception that the team needs a swift kick in the ass more than it needs a hug, but I'd be cool with Mooch as well.

I know MM is running out of scape goats, but does anyone think any assistants/position coaches will be fired tomorrow?

I am still on the trading Kampman idea, I love the guys work ethic and motor, but he really does not fit into this system. I think we could get some major help for him once Chillar returns to fill the whole.

Thoughts?

Trade Kampman. He's not an OLB and we could pursue another Mathews-esque player.

Use high draft picks on tackles. Have T.J Lang at LG instead of Colledge, Spitz in centre and Sitton and RG making a pretty big middle to help the run game. Hope to god your drafted Tackles turn out to be any good cause you know that Ted won't pursue anyone in F.A (if anyone's out there that is). Get shot of James Campen and get a veteran O-Line coach to take his place. Look at a potantial upgrade at RB (again not likely as Ted doesn't do big F.As).

Look at handing the playcalling to someone else. ....

Oh hell this is too hard, we're just so bad at the moment.

A kicker that can hit the wall behind the endzone on a kickoff!!! Woohoo!!!

But on a more serious note, I thought our run game looked a lot better this week. Mixing up Grant and Green actually worked pretty good. And yea, sometimes it was way too predictable.

I don't know what happened to our defense. They looked like a top 5 D in week 1. Cutler was a mess. Hmmm. Well at least they have been consistent in stopping the run.

Our running game looked just as good against the Bucs as it did against the Browns. Great that we can run it on horrible teams, but that's not going to help us much when we actually need the running game.

I mean, if the Buccaneers even play off of the line of scrimmage and call a quarters defense against us, because they're not afraid of the run, you're not a very good running team.
