What other player in NFL history has had fans actually switch allegoric to a hated rival? Only Brett Favre, these people blow my mind!

As far as my screen name, if the Reggie White or Gilbert Brown had the same circumstances, i'd hope they play well vs us too.

Funny you mention that.. Reggie did retire, then decided to come back, but had to with the Panthers.. why no jaded Wolf hate? They didn't just take him back.. did they?

Looks like Leroy didn't get enough attention during the superbowl years.

LeRoy was well respected in Green Bay and captain of the defense for many years. He is an opinionated player but I like that. He got the job done on the field and, as far as I'm concerned, if you can walk the walk you can talk the talk.

I agree with Butler here re:treatment of Brett Favre. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I was a Packers fan long before #4 and I remain a Packers fan first and foremost. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but for me, having a "Pro Favre" rank under my name while he is playing against us might as well be like wearing the proverbial scarlet "A". It is a brand of shame and I would be embarassed.

I like how people say Brett got a raw deal. Yeah, sort of like the NYJ did when he wormed out of his contract with them so he could get to Minn like he wanted in the first place. He got a head coach fired and had the league raise an inquiry about the treatment of his "injury" during that year. We've seen over the course of the last 4-5 seasons that BF is a media whore. He likes to see his name in the headlines and on the chat shows. He can shoulder his own share of the blame for his departure from GB.

BOTTOM LINE: Come Sunday, my Favre jerseys will be gathering dust in my closet while I cheer on Mr. Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

You might do well to remember that Gilbert Brown did the unselfish thing of taking a pay CUT so that he could remain with the team. That is Packer loyalty. I doubt he would put himself in the same circumstances, and if forced into them, I doubt he would trash talk the city of Green Bay like that douchebag Longwell did.

If you're still hanging onto that moronic idea that the Packers were trying to pay Favre not to play, you're seriously grasping at straws.

Right. It was a marketing deal -- a way to exploit Favre's name and image for more money. It wasn't some sort of bribe to induce him not to play. If they didn't want him to play, all they had to do was cut him; they didn't have to buy him off. The "face of the franchise" (I hate that term) he might have been, but he was still an employee, not a manager.

I root for both except head to head. I feel like the guy got a raw deal and i want him to thrash the Packers for 500 yards and 6 td's every time he plays them. Also, I didn't bring it up to go back and forth about what happneed last year. It happened, it's over and everyone has their own opinion. Maybe I should not come around here till Favre retires but it's how I feel. If Packershome owner wants me to leave till Vikings QB retires, i will.

Grave - I root for both except head to head. Head to head, I root for the Packers.

Do I feel Favre got a raw deal? Well, honestly, I think it's BOTH of their faults. I think both Favre and Ted Thompson have communication issues and both are too stubborn to forgive and work things out.

But alas, it's water under the bridge. What's more important is that the Packers get more Lombardis than the Cows and the Steelers, and yes, I'll continue to root for Favre, no matter what team he goes on. I ALWAYS root for players I like, regardless of the teams they're on, unless they play us. For example, I was a HUGE Wallie Payton fan. I was really happy for him in '85 when he got his ring.

Another example - I was hoping James Lofton would get an SB ring with the Bills. Didn't happen though even though they made the big game twice with Lofton.

I'm with Gravedigga here, I hope Brett torches GB over and Over again. Another shovel full of dirt thrown on Ted Thompson'S dying tenure. All hell will break loose after this one and after another missed playoff appearance more fans will rebel and Ted Thompson will be driven out of GB by next year with Mike McCarthy right beside him.

In my opinion, if you're true fan, you're a true fan. Now, maybe this year... Packers fans, as you know, are like no other. But if you're a true Packers fan, you want the Packers to win. And if you're a Brett Favre fan, then this week obviously you don't want me to win. But for the most part you're, 'Hey, hope the guy does well but I hope the Packers go all the way.'
