How about them running backs eh.. ;)

Uttered my last word and the safety that shall never have helped us..

I think the bowling ball with shoes would help the running game, but can we afford to give up Wynn blocking ability?

Couldn't Kuhn or Hall stay in and block effectively if that is going to be their purpose?

Yep.. just speaking in terms of the entire season.. why not try to infuse another runner upon this team.

well i think it could be a good thing. Makes people play with some sense of urgency. Playing for their jobs etc etc Its obvious that the run is not working. So i dont blame them for trying out some other guys

Overall, I think some here are feeling very pessimistic and others less so - that's leading to some tensions
, I think.

Agreed.. I think the first ray of sunshine that we are starting to correct some of these running (oline fundamentals, lack of a consistent pass rush, playcalling to name a few) over the course of a game or two, things will start to brighten up.

Speaking personally, when watching some of the same fundamentals broken in 09 that were broke in 06,07 and 08.. it becomes hard to keep giving rope to this staff until they start climbing some.

That leads to one disappointed Packer fan that talks to much. ;)

Am I the only one here who has actually liked the playcalling the last few games? It's not like running game was going anywhere against Minnesota, and the playcalls in the passing game were very effective. We saw the screen game make a return, and half of Grant's yards came off of draw plays. In the game against St. Louis, the playcalling definitely worked in our favor -- McCarthy stayed with the run attempts and it helped open up play action and keep things balanced.

I understand that we haven't seen enough of the slants, but it isn't as though a few passing patterns are cure alls for our offense. I hope I don't stand alone in thinking the playcalling has been pretty good the last two games.

I'll need to see more of that before I give a ringing endorsement for McCarthy, but I at least like to see a little return of screen passes.

Actually Grant was having a good game against the vikings. He was on pace for 100 yards on 20 carries.

I believe its too early to give up on ryan grant. I know nobody is saying its time to give up on grant. But this is a guy last year that ran for 1,200 yards. His only problem was he only had 4 tds. Well look at this season so far. He already has 2 tds in 4 games. That is a good sign. Our running game has faced some pretty good run defenses. I believe Grant will pick it up.

The packers face the 21st ranked run defense in the lions, 32nd in the browns, the 10th in the vikings, and the 28th in the bucs in the next 4 games. Besides the vikings, those are some favorable match ups.

I would like to take a look at one of the raiders running backs. There season is looking pretty bad. So maybe the packers could steal one of their backs. I like what i see out of michael bush.

One thing I do like about Grant this year is he has been doing some good things in the receiving game. He had the fumble which sucked but aside from that his catching and ability to pick up extra yards after the catch seems to have improved.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Steven Jackson could be obtained for a 3rd rounder, but if that's true, it would seem like a no-brainer to me.

Why running backs? Maybe long term?

Other notes / rumors of interest here..

Its awfully early, but we already hear rumblings that running backs Ryan Grant, Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn won't be around in 2010. Grant is overpaid, Jackson is unreliable and Wynn is a nonentity

Yes, Steven Jackson behind a good OL would be a monster. Oh wait. That doesn't mean us then. 😞
