Lansanah was signed to our 53 when Miami tried to get him off our PS.

Whether the owning team always has right of refusal, I dont know.

But I would have thought it would be in the player's interest to tell his current team he had got an offer in order to create the possibility of a bidding war, albeit a tame one, between two clubs.

I think buckeye's Cowboy scenario was about what you posted. The guy had a chance to sign with another team on active roster but the agent went back to the Cowboys and they matched it..

well in terms of Lansanah i remember he was the one that called Green Bay FO and told them Miami wanted to sign him so apparently its a player's option to notify his team before he signs (as did Lansanah) and in that case the pack signed him, i guess jamon didnt care or maybe did but the pack didnt care, either way i thought he would've been a good T in a few years

In the end Jamon is not with the Packers. And wow I didn't expect our O Line to be out weakness. Barbre was suppose to be very athletic and this O Line was suppose to be the most physical in years. Well!

They knew they better nab him before the Pack re-evaluates Clifton's ankle tomorrow. Because if it doesn't look good, Meredith was gonna get called up.

Well if that isn't a kick in the sack. We should have shuffled something on our squad to keep him around as a insurance policy.

I was befuddled when they shipped him to the practice squad, so this news is more than a little annoying to me. Almost all the OL talent we brought in this offseason has been allowed to leave. As highly graded as he was before the draft, I'm not surprised in the least another team snapped him up. I have to wonder when Brohm will get the call.

Difference with Buffalo and us is they lost there LT, 100% sure, they placed him on IR, which freed up the roster spot.

For us, we would have to cut somebody, Nonstop pointed to Quinn in the Oline thread. To do that we would have to cut Quinn still paying him for the year. Then to have a chance of having him later we would have to wait for him to clear waivers before he could then be resigned to the PS.

Meredith, even if we had brought him up, would still even without Clifton, be our 3rd option at LT. He was #4 which is why he was put in danger on the PS in the first place.

As of now Clifton has a bum ankle, and we shall see shortly how long he may miss.

For the record, I wasn't advocating cutting Quinn. I was saying it could be argued he was placed on the 53-man roster primarily to protect him from being signed away. I think there are plenty of burnt hulks we could part with and not experience a significant drop in production. My two primary candidates would be Atari Bigby and Brandon Jackson.
