This is for all the so called experts on this forum and others that say that Kampman can't play in the 4-3

link

Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers said the first player he spoke to after getting hired was Aaron Kampman, who will play outside linebacker in the Packers new 3-4 defense.

He came up to my office, said Capers, Aaron being as conscientious as he is. Kampman is moving from defensive end in the 4-3 to linebacker, and inquired about his ideal playing weight.

I told him dont get too hung up on the weight, said Capers. You know what weight you can move the best.

For me to sit here and say I want you at this weight is wrong. Kampmans playing weight last season was around 265 pounds.

Capers said he has no reservations about Kampman playing linebacker. We talked and I think Aarons excited about it and were excited about Aaron, said Capers.

I really don't want to see Kampman trying to cover anybody. That smells like disaster to me...and I would know, I smell disasters all the time.

Can he really do any worse then the LB's you saw in coverage last year for the Packers?

I think our LBs are quite capable of covering if their QB doesn't get 20 seconds in the pocket. Kampman, I don't know. Then again, I'm not convinced on him being a great rusher at the OLB position either.

I'm not a 'so-called expert', but I have seen him do alot of battling with the OTs and not alot of spin moves or something where he needed his speed for. That was what the guy on the other side was all about.

We'll see when the season starts.

Oh, and this posts seems somewhat negative, but I'm really in the middle on this one.

You guys remember that capers said its going to take 3 years to fully implement the 3-4; and 50-60% of the time kampman will play with his hand down (4-3 setup).

I'm a little nervous/anxious to see Kampman in coverage. I mean, it's something new, so of course I'm concerned that it won't work out as well as i'd hoped. but, i wish football season could just hurry up and get here already so i can stop wondering and start watching!

I think he will do fine. He's VERY athletic, and has played LB i believe in college. So he does know how it all works. And i think he's alot faster then most people think.
I think we are in for a pleasant surprise!

Well it is a good thing. Because the only way Kampman's weight is going to go is up. He weight is not going to go down anymore. And the bigger he would get, the slower he is going to get.

I actually see Kamp being close to the way it was the last couple games. Basically a DE that roves. He is going to be rushing basically all downs except on a rare drop into coverage.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I'm not worried about Kampman in coverage as long as he can sack the QB about 10 times this year and provide pressure. Plus I think most of the time he'll be going at the QB or dropping in the flats.

Kampman's biggest weakness is going to be teams trying to isolate him one on one in space. I would assume the Vikings will try and get Kampman in the flats with Adrian Peterson. That's what teams will do. GB will game plan around it obviously.

Zero2Cool (3h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (3h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (5h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (6h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (6h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (7h) : Thank you
wpr (7h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (7h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (7h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (7h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (7h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (8h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (8h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (8h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (8h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (8h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
