Professional athletes shouldn't need incentives to be in playing shape. The problem is in Lacy's mind!

I just saw a little video of Sitton the other day. He's dropped 20 lbs to help with his back pain and increases his agility. I guess it could be said that he's in a contract year, but I think it is more about career longevity with Sitton.

I cannot imagine how painful having a bad back is when your a football player, but especially an offensive lineman. I'm happy to see this. I wanted his career to continue but only if he made some changes to help play closer to 100%.

Drafting or giving a 2nd contract to guys with "good character" goes way beyond whether a guy will beat his wife or rob the local CVS. It is about whether it is in their mind/possess the internal character and discipline to stay in shape and eat right 24/7/365; learn the playbook; study film; play within scheme instead of stat-whoring; etc.

As far as Sitton losing weight, a couple of things
  1. I believe the Packers OL coached shared that Sitton said he lost weight so that he could practice more/sooner and not rest as far into training camp like he had been doing for his back injury. Being lighter (in theory) could get him practicing sooner and dealing with the injury better (until the real hitting starts).

  2. It sounded like Sitton said he was planning to regain most of the weight he lost in a healthy manner as the season goes along, as well as that Sitton believed the more weight helps linemen deal with all the physical contact, but that he was just starting at a lower weight and going to gain it as training camp / the season goes along

  3. [*] Sitton is getting married on July 09, 2016... so some theories are suggesting he might want to be a little thinner for the wedding, all the pictures and for some reason the honeymoon... but sounds like Sitton is downplaying that and suggesting it's football related

But I think together they push each other and pride themselves on playing through it.

I think a lot of it is in the player's mental condition. Lacy knows what he has to do. He knows how it hurt him (and the team) last year.
The fact that he IS working out and trying, is what will pay off.
His mental attitude will decide how it turns out.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
